Need advice on for green-screening with 550D / T2i and lenses

So I'm going to make a music video for a project at college and almost every shot is going to be done in-front of a green-screen. I know the standard procedure - light the screen well, make sure there's no creases it in etc.. I'm using a 550D / T2i for the job and I need some advice on using it for green-screen work; I'm probably not as knowledgeable as the rest of you in photography. I understand the basics and camera functions, but I've been looking around the web for advice on the subject and I don't understand some terms that are being said. I'm also thinking about lenses because I only have the standard 8-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 lens that comes with the camera and I'm guessing that probably isn't right for the job, what should I be looking for?
Oh and the shots are going to be of a single subject with full-body shots as well as some closer up shots.
Thanks in advance.
Kit lens is fine, make sure the greenscreen is evenly lit, unless this is for commercial use you should have no trouble doing a good job yourself.

Pretty much this, I'm not sure what else to recommend you since it's been said.
Good luck!
