Umma Azul, whose godmother is the country's President, on Saturday became the first child of a lesbian couple to be baptized by the Catholic Church in Argentina. A priest performed the baptism at the cathedral in Cordoba.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in Argentina since 2010, but is not sanctioned by the Catholic Church.
Ortiz told reporters that "now we hope to get married by the church and we will fight for that."
Argentina is home to Pope Francis. Last summer, he told the media aboard a flight to Rome, "Who am I to judge" gay people?
Two months later, in September 2013, Francis said the church has the right to express its opinions but not to "interfere spiritually" in the lives of gays and lesbians.
Wow.
I can't be the only one to think this is amazing.
Of course you're not, pope francis is a really kind man
He's the embodiment of the ideal Christian.
Except for the whole being Catholic thing

Catholicism is a broad term for describing specific traditions in the Christian churches in theology and doctrine, liturgy, ethics and spirituality.
Just saying.
The first form of Christianity was Catholicism lol
And what you consider 'ideal' is completely up to you. It's your religion after all, that's the whole point, it's what you believe.
Francis, you lefty
Except for the whole being Catholic thing
yeah man mormon or bust, right
Did you honestly just say Catholicism isn't a form of Christianity?
Good guy Francis.
if there's anyone who is restoring my faith in humanity its pope Francis
From the title, I kinda thought a couple of catholic priests kidnapped a baby and quickly baptised it while no one was looking :v:
But this is much better
Just saying.
But there is only one Roman Apostolic Catholic Church...
This guy is amazing. I just wish the dumb rednecks around here who claim the be christian even knew who the fucking pope was so they could take some fucking notes.

Most rednecks are probably baptists/fundies who think the pope is a heretic
Most rednecks are probably baptists who think the pope is a heretic
you're probably right.
Makes sense I guess. Would be really silly to deny a baptism to a child just because his parents happen to be lesbians. You don't choose your parents.
You can't choose your sexual preferences either. Just sayin'.

I'm Baptist and I think this guy's fantastic...

As a catholic I'm OK with this kid being baptized. But if the church would start marrying gay couples it would bury the basics of it's tradition. You know, God created Adam, saw something was missing, then he created Eve... It's like taking the first few pages of the Bible and throwing it away (thought they could have done that when people learned about evolution).
I am not against gay marriage, it's fine by me, I am just worried of church forgetting it's traditions and becoming somewhat mainstream and stuff... like female pope ?
Well there's this constant battle between tradition and newness. I believe the key is finding the right balance.
lesbians baby? i sense it isn't what it seems because from what i know two women can't have a children without aid of another male partner.. willing or unwilling.

Err... what?

Would a female pope somehow be a bad thing? Are men inherently more Godly, or something?

Have you ever heard of adoption?

Good

considering that the whole story of man being made and then woman isnt true, your point really makes no sense.
actually what even is your point? you seem to think that a story about the order of things being created has any bearing on whether or not two people can be married but thats not very well thought out.
Would a female pope somehow be a bad thing? Are men inherently more Godly, or something?
Well... the Bible says they are actually. God created a man in his own image, then saw man was lonely and created Eve... out of mans rib. You can't say it isn't written like that.
And dammit guys, don't think this is my opinion, I am just quoting the book.
Doesn't say that it's inherently bad

It's forming your opinion. So it is, even if it's not originally yours.
