Social network giant Facebook has announced that it has registered its 500 millionth member - one in 13 of the entire global population. The site, which launched in 2004, has gained around 100 million new users in the last six months alone. Facebook said the number was "an important milestone" and added that it was "humbled and inspired" by the stories of its users. But as the popularity of the site grows, so do concerns about privacy and online child safety - in particular bullying. Get ready guys! Lets strive for a 500 million person privacy leak!
That's a lot of people.
I'd be impressed if it reaches one billion.
didn't this happen a while ago? I could've sworn it was part of the trailer for the social network
didn't this happen a while ago? I could've sworn it was part of the trailer for the social network
No I think they just guessed that it would hit 500 million when they released the film
Percentage of troll accounts?
That's roughly 7-8% of the population of the planet. Impressive.
didn't this happen a while ago? I could've sworn it was part of the trailer for the social network
They probably looked at statistics for Facebook usage and extrapolated that there would be 500M people using it by the time the film was released.
I'm glad this world is degrading to social networking sites to be social instead of actually going outside and hanging out with friends in person.
brb, deleting my account [editline]08:18PM[/editline] it was just a gimmick account to get one of those free mousemats but I don't want to be a statistic

That's alot of people.
Most of them troll accounts. Or accounts registered by the same person to make it look like he has friends. not that I would know of anyone doing that really
It's all those people making several accounts for free mouse pads. Definitely not me

Pretty good chunk of people, who would have ever thought social networking would ever be this big.
I bet 400 million is under 18.
brb, deleting my account [editline]08:18PM[/editline] it was just a gimmick account to get one of those free mousemats but I don't want to be a statistic
...you don't have a legit facebook...because?
...you don't have a legit facebook...because?
because I don't feel like I need to hand over my ability to socialise to some gigantic corporation when I can just use IRC or IM and accomplish the same thing
I honestly don't understand the purpose of social networking, especially to the extent where people are more "Social" on the computer than they are IRL.
Wow really, I thought people were leaving Facebook. Seeing how the head of FB is a dick head.
because I don't feel like I need to hand over my ability to socialise to some gigantic corporation when I can just use IRC or IM and accomplish the same thing
Ooo, rebel [editline]07:10AM[/editline]
Wow really, I thought people were leaving Facebook. Great accomplishment, I must say, even if I don't use Facebook.
Ooo, rebel
He's not a rebel. All his points are completely valid.
