We're excited to say that support for watching 1080p HD videos in full resolution is on its way. Starting next week, YouTube's HD mode will add support for viewing videos in 720p or 1080p, depending on the resolution of the original source, up from our maximum output of 720p today.
As resolution of consumer cameras increases, we want to make sure YouTube is the best home on the web to showcase your content. For viewers with big monitors and a fast computer, try switching to 1080p to get the most out of the fullscreen experience.
Good news, but with the buffering rates I'm getting on YouTube now I'm not too excited. I'd rather they fix that first. YouTube is slowly becoming as awesome as DivX, except for the lack of movies and the insane copyright crackdowns.
27 clocks lmao
As if youtube can handle the bandwidth with a billion viewers a day.

I find loading HD videos tough enough already and aren't those 720

They are owned by google, all the servers and bandwidth in the world.
Sweet, now I wont have to reduce the quality on my Webbie pre-upload.
Divx looked better, and still was better.
Flash can't handle this shit.
Holy shit :psyduck:
I can't even find a decent codec/filetype to compile 1080p videos in sony vegas.
Flash is really not suited for HD.

Yet it's still slow as shit even now.
I've notice that to the load times are outrageous.
Yeah yeah the loadtimes are horrible sometimes, and I think that matter won't go unnoticed.
Does this mean you could even watch a movie on youtube? (If only rest of the screen went darker and the video-screen stayed bright)
Yet they still insist on a fucking 10 minute cap :psyduck:
Yet they still insist on a fucking 10 minute cap :psyduck:
Yeah this is very annoying and outdated. Having to make videos in two parts if they're more than 10 minutes is annoying.
Agreed, Flash is just not suited for 1080 streaming (97% CPU usage on my Athlon 64 X2 4600, Media Player Classic plays 1080 mkv's at 30% CPU due to offloading rendering to the GPU)
BUT
HTML5 is just around the corner, and a demo (which SHOULD apparently work with Firefox 3.5, Google Chrome and Safari) is available in youtube's labs section. HTML5 includes builtin video support that doesn't use flash, so everyone should get much-needed performance increases soon. :D

1080p HD huh? Good news for the machinima makers out there.
Bad news for the machinima watchers.
"WATCH IN HD!!!"

Ha! I outsmarted you, you crazy video!
Youtube's been shit for a long time.
Round the time google got it...
Only reason I go on it is because it's so popular, thus most of everything is on it.

they did the 10 min cap so people wont upload TV shows, movies and other full lenth stuff
but every video goes in a fucking WMG check to make sure you dont have any copyrighted music on it..
if every vids gets check.. then why 10 min cap?
Oh god, my monitor can't even display 1080 :frown: and my Internet will take a beating from this too, nothing good will come of this you hear :argh:

Flash 10 does offload the render on the GPU.

Youtube is becoming a crappy version of stage6.
