If it's more content in an open and interesting place it might be good.
Like the beach part of the original game which was probably the highlight of the game. The last area was alright too but the inbetween stuff was annoying.
I loved the first one and its DLC.
If they made it a bit more survivaley, then I think this could do very well.
They need center it more around survival and horror instead of just making it silly.
I'd be fine with it being RPGlike if they upped the survival aspect as well.
DI was an enjoyable romp but too often it didn't really feel like there was much point to anything you did outside of grinding XP. The fact that the game later entirely abandoned the free-roaming aspect of it (which is what drew so many people into the game in the first place) only hurt the experience even more.
I liked DI; I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't play through it again.

Same here, although I plan on eventually getting the Ryder White DLC just to see what the hell he was up to.
I loved Dead Island, so I'm pretty excited. The (melee) combat was great and visceral.
If the game improves the ranged combat, Has a better cast of characters, and overhauls the leveling mechanics I think it would go a long way towards making a better experience.
MAKE IT LIKE THE TRAILER YOU RELEASED, TECHLAND. c
(Still a decent game though)
I do have to say that when I first got the game I wasn't expecting the RPG elements, and while I still enjoyed the game the leveling system that came with the RPG elements gave me no sense of progression. No matter what level I was, I still felt like the Zombies were more powerful than I was. This is exactly the sort of feeling one should get with a Zombie Apocalypse game, but it kinda defeats the point of having a leveling system if everything feels the same no matter what level you are.

Techland had stated (or at the very least implied) that the game wasn't going to be like the trailer when they released it. (http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/02/dead-island-trailer/)
The guns need to do more damage.
yes..YES ..YES!
as long they polish stuff like the survival aspect and the storyline i we are good
i really loved the first one was the first game that got me attached in not becouse the story line but becouse the awesome gameplay
The guns need to do more damage.
You spend the first third of the game waiting for a gun, and once you get one it does nothing to the zombies. Guns were practically useless.

I liked the base game in itself, despite the problems it had. The RW dlc ruined everything though. No co-op, no leveling up or character progression.

Guns weren't useless. They could one-hit humans and running zombies. If you even tried to fight humans with melee weapons you'd get your balls rocked.
I couldn't stand the original. Why the fuck do the regular zombies get stronger when I level up, but I still have to scrounge around for shit like baseball bats and nails? I don't mind special infected levelling up, but the regular zombies should be a threat from their numbers, not because my pathetically weak hatchet can't hurt them.

Oh well, my dumb hype ruined it for me I guess. As stated in my previous post, it was still a decent game.
Hope I can carry more ammo than baseball bats and war hammers.
There's a mod that made bullets to the head a one-hit kill for zombies. That and along with several other mods made certain things in the game make a little more sense.

I don't know what game you played, but the common weapons leveled up as well so the comparison always stayed about the same.
And it's more realistic for a single zombie to be a threat when all you have is a hatchet or rusty pipe or something.

I would take a look here. Some good stuff on this page.
Hey, at least they're actually staying connected to the game, and not just abandoning it when they promise extra DLC.

Give us the ability to go Fist of the North Star mode and I'll pre-order this game in a heartbeat.
The guns need to do more damage.
I hated how guns did a fuckton to humans, melee did nothing to humans, and vice-versa for zombies.

I played the game yesterday and I easily took out humans with melee. The blades I had took a single hit to kill them, and it wasn't any special weapon I was using, just a shock machete.
I hope this time I don't have to find a fucking teddy bear in mid of a zombie apocalypse.
Loved dead island, thought it was one of the best zombie games despite being a little rough around the edges.
I liked Dead Island. It was a fun coop game and it sorta felt like Borderlands with zombies which wasn't really a bad thing. If Riptide can learn from the shortcomings of the first game and polish up a bit, it should be interesting.

It's not that it was a terrible game
It just gathered a hate bandwagon around it for not going in the direction people were expecting and wanting
