I don't get how HL2 was a disaster at launch, because it wasn't technically out by then. And even so, they changed it a lot.
I might have said this before, but this news bot kinda sucks. :/

This will get you banned anywhere, including steam.
ok we get it simcity's bad stop fucking telling us ffs

Didn't EA say they were offering refunds.
Valve only does that with extremely disastrous launches, like the War Z.
ok we get it simcity's bad stop fucking telling us ffs
It's not bad, it's just that EA generally sucks at running servers, or better yet, doing anything that involves the internet.
The game itself is actually very good, but the shitty DRM is just screwing it over.
It's like having the best cake in the world, only to find that your mouth is sewn shut.
ok we get it simcity's bad stop fucking telling us ffs
The game's good, the problem lies in just not being able to play it.

You have to go through EA to get a refund, just like you had to go through valve to get a refund for War Z. Doing a chargeback on either one would get you banned.

Everyone on simcity forums are saying that support refuses to give a refund both livechat and over the phone.
People are resulting to asking for a chargeback from their creditcard provider and EA is threatening to ban accounts.
Honestly, at this point i'm never buying another game from origin so it wouldn't be that big of a deal if I decide to go that route.
its like seeing the best cake in the world but its surrounded by barbed wire
This will get you banned anywhere, including steam.
Not necessarily, most companies wouldn't refuse a refund after offering one in the first place.

Don't act like Valve are saints, CS:S had probably one of the worst launches for a while
And can we pleeeease move on from saying "this bot sux lol", they're the only ones who cared enough to make a separate account and post here occasionally

The game's not bad, but the company publishing it is. It has had an awful launch to say the least.

CS:S had a bad launch? I remember it owning pretty hard, even in beta.

Oh, maybe I'm just equating the normal CS whining with legitimate badness, a dangerous mistake

I can understand if that were for people who downloaded it, but back then physical game media were still a big thing.
ok we get it simcity's bad stop fucking telling us ffs
No, this is something that's affecting pretty much the ENTIRE install-base, they aren't going to stop reporting on it until EA gets its shit together.

If I recall, after getting CS:S, you could play it. Certainly no 20 minute waits for another dice roll
The only CS game that sucked commercially was Condition Zero, even though it was pretty good compared to 1.6.
Also, since when did I idolize Valve? I just said that they didn't technically have a bad launch, cause the game wasn't even out yet. I'd say about 70% of their series were not made by Valve employees (Examples being Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, Portal and Dota 2).
This game reminds of Battlefield 3.
They release a good game but spread their poop all over it, and you have to ask yourself "Is it really worth going through this shit?"

It was Half-Life 2 that had a bad launch. Many people that didn't have high-speed broadband connections couldn't register the game, let alone launch it. Oh so many memories of steam crashing during an update and having to start the whole thing again at 50kB/s. They did sort that out, but it was still a nightmare.

Agreed. I did get kinda pissed when they gave out Premium with new copies, and didn't even compensate for it. Plus, sucky ass servers.
I would have been content with some Microsoft Points, but now I'm just ranting...

Oh, that explains it then. The article only blamed the hacking for the launch.

I'm not sure if it was just me but I didn't have those problems when HL2 was released.
I'm so torn, I love simcity, but hate always online DRM and Origin. Guess I'll just keep playing my simcity 4 which has terraforming and subways.
my bet is that this is going to even out after a few days and will be completely playable, just like duhblablo 3
might pick it up then
I'm so happy I never bought another EA game again after Battlefield 3.
I was with the "omg the Battlefield reboot is gonna be great, destructible everything, PREORDER!" boat.
Never did I buy any DLC ever. So glad. Spent it on useful things like Counterstrike: Global Offensive with Dark Souls
1. Fix Origin.
2. Turn off always-online-DRM.
3. Expand city size limitations.

It's your only option though if the company is refusing to give you the refund you're entitled to.
