• Trying to diagnose motherboard/cpu (no POST or beeps)

I got (what I thought) was a good deal on ebay, I got a Foxconn 661M03 and a 1.7 Ghz Celeron (SL68C) quite cheap, it was being sold as untested parts but I figured for the price the risk was worth it. Anyway after having some problems finding a working PSU, I got it turning on but there would be no video signal BUT my crt monitor would come out of standby as if it had received a signal before it tells me "no video signal". I checked the CPU and there was a bent pin so I fixed that, but I'm still not getting any more feedback. No beeping even if I remove that RAM. I've tried clearing the CMOS (both be removing the battery and by using the on-board jumpers) but I can't think of anything else to try. I'd like to work out if it's the motherboard or CPU that's causing the problem, can anyone help? Thanks
The only way to test is if you have a spare motherboard or CPU around, really.
Generally when something is "untested" on Ebay, it has been tested and doesn't work. You probably just bought dead parts. Examine the motherboard VERY closely (to the point where you can read all of the tiny chips, use a magnifying glass if you must) You'll probably eventually find some small fried chip (or several) on the board that can't be seen with a bunch of low resolution online pictures.
I have to say, foxconn is a horrible brand. It is what hp uses in their stock computers. I plugged a graphics card in to one once (with proper psu) and it fried it. I dont even know how that happens but I do not trust their products.

Foxconn is a huge conglomerate, they make much more than just motherboards. They're the largest supplier of connectors that motherboard manufacturers use (IDE connectors, cables, PCIe/PCI/AGP/ISA slots, wire assemblies, etc. Their motherboards are pretty bad though, along with ASrock and a few others.
Thanks for the advice, I'm guessing the mobo is probably dead. I'll try and pick up a cheap one that is listed as "working" and try and get that working.
