• Andrew Sheer Elected Canadian Conservative Party Leader
Saskatchewan MP Andrew Scheer has been elected the new leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, picking up enough down-ballot support to overcome strong early numbers by rival Maxime Bernier during a convention in Toronto. Scheer, the youngest MP to serve as House Speaker, promised to unite the party by bringing together the social and fiscal conservative wings to take on the Liberals in the 2019 election. He's now 38. The father of five edged out Bernier by less than one percentage point Saturday. Bernier was considered a strong front-runner throughout the year-long race. In his victory speech, Scheer promised to keep the party true to its roots, working for average Canadian families and not "Ottawa insiders." He said Canada can't afford four more years of Justin Trudeau and that the fight to return to power in 2019 starts now. "There is renewed hope for Canada, starting today," he said. "The pain and hardship the Trudeau Liberals are causing Canadians is just temporary."
http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/politics/conservative-leadership-race-winner-1.4134575 A bit more about him: http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/politics/andrew-scheer-house-speaker-rise-conservative-leader-1.4134881
"Pain and suffering Trudeau Liberals are causing Canadians" ??????
"Pain and suffering Trudeau Liberals are causing Canadians" ??????
As usual, Conservatives lie to gain power.
so he sounds like a canadian trump from the article
LOL It took them 13 rounds to select a new leader
Scheer called the Liberal carbon pricing plan a "cash grab," and accused the Liberals of being more consumed by photo-ops and selfies than creating prosperity for struggling Canadians. "Sunny ways won't pay the bills," he said.
w-what?
lmao fuck the Conservatives. They lose in horrific fashion to probably the most progressive candidate in Canadian history, so they decide to pick more of the same? I don't think I'd ever vote Conservative, but I just can't help but laugh at their stubbornness.
w-what?

Scheer called the Liberal carbon pricing plan a "cash grab," and accused the Liberals of being more consumed by photo-ops and selfies than creating prosperity for struggling Canadians.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/bhymn2M.png[/t] Pot, meet kettle.
so he sounds like a canadian trump from the article
I'd say Kevin O'Leary is closer to a Canadian Trump. He's an equally out of touch businessman/reality TV star who dropped out earlier. And there's also Kellie Leitch, who wanted all immigrants to take a Canadian values test as part of the intake process. I think he's more similar to Pence than Trump.

[editline]and another thing[/editline]
Pot, meet kettle.
Also, on this, I completely forgot. Stephen Harper got rid of an award that honoured a historically-important Quebecois feminist for a photo op of his dumb fucking face. The blind hubris of Sheer's sneery remark is amazing. I'm disappointed by Trudeau's abandonment of electoral reform but I'll still take him over this guy if he's going to be Harper II.
don't know his policies but if hes tory, im going to guess it's "the oil companies get to do what they want and the citizens don't get to do anything"
don't know his policies but if hes tory, im going to guess it's "the oil companies get to do what they want and the citizens don't get to do anything"
On that front, it would appear he promptly removed all his policies from his website, post-win. Clearly, he knows enough about the internet because he didn't know about The Wayback Machine :v:
"There is renewed hope for Canada, starting today," he said. "The pain and hardship the Trudeau Liberals are causing Canadians is just temporary."
I didn't know life in Canada under the Trudeau regime had gotten this bad.
I didn't know life in Canada under the Trudeau regime had gotten this bad.
It's horrible. Gay bears (actual grizzlies, not big hairy men) are decimating the Albertan population as we speak. Edmonton has been abandoned, everything in Vancouver is burning except the stuff owned by the Chinese, and Quebec has physically broken off from the Canadian Shield and is hovering over Thunder Bay. They proclaim themselves Les Citoyens Libre du Maudit Tabarnak and are in tense negotiations with the Trudeau government to stave off a declaration of war. But Tim Horton's is still open and summer's here so it's not that bad, eh? From my perspective, Canada's in a better position than in 2014 under Harper. Still disappointed about that electoral reform business, though.
I didn't know life in Canada under the Trudeau regime had gotten this bad.
He went back on his major promise of Electoral Reform among some other things although it's still better than Harper. https://trudeaumetre.polimeter.org/
here's how bernier can still win
I didn't know life in Canada under the Trudeau regime had gotten this bad.
It hasn't. The supposedly strong leader material Conservatives are just crying and bitching because they lost.
LOL It took them 13 rounds to select a new leader
It was a runoff voting system. They had to eliminate the other candidates, and clearly support in the party was very heavily concentrated around 3 people, which is why it went to the last round, and led to a last-round upset for the front-runner, Maxime Bernier. [editline]28th May 2017[/editline]
It hasn't. The supposedly strong leader material Conservatives are just crying and bitching because they lost.
It's politics, the Liberals whine and bitch about how satanic the Conservatives are when they're not in power too. [editline]28th May 2017[/editline]
As usual, Conservatives lie to gain power.
Lying is bipartisan. The Liberal Party has told plenty of lies in their time to get in/stay in power. Characterizing it as a conservative-only thing is itself a lie.
