Here's Apollo 14 with the LEM Descent stage on the right and the experiment pack on the left... ...and the Apollo 11 LEM Descent stage. Now for the scoop:
A US spacecraft has captured images of Apollo landing sites on the Moon, revealing hardware and a trail of footprints left on the lunar surface. The release of the images coincides with the 40th anniversary of the first manned mission to land on the Moon. The descent stages from the lunar modules which carried astronauts to and from the Moon can clearly be seen. The image of the Apollo 14 landing site shows scientific instruments and an astronaut footpath in the lunar dust. It is the first time hardware left on the Moon by the Apollo missions has been seen from lunar orbit. The pictures were taken by Nasa's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft, which launched on 18 June. The spacecraft is carrying three cameras on board: one low-resolution wide-angle camera and two high-resolution narrow-angle cameras mounted side-by-side. These are known collectively as the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) instrument. "The LROC team anxiously awaited each image," said the instrument's principal investigator Mark Robinson of Arizona State University. "We were very interested in getting our first peek at the lunar module descent stages just for the thrill - and to see how well the cameras had come into focus. Indeed, the images are fantastic and so is the focus."

The LRO satellite reached lunar orbit on 23 June and captured the Apollo sites between 11 and 15 July. Though it had been expected that LRO would be able to resolve the remnants of the Apollo missions, these first images were taken before the spacecraft had reached its final mapping orbit. "Not only do these images reveal the great accomplishments of Apollo, they also show us that lunar exploration continues," said LRO project scientist Richard Vondrak of Nasa's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, US. "They demonstrate how LRO will be used to identify the best destinations for the next journeys to the Moon." Although the pictures provide a reminder of past lunar exploration, LRO's primary focus is on paving the way for the future. Data returned by the mission will help Nasa identify safe landing sites for future explorers, locate potential resources, describe the Moon's radiation environment and demonstrate new technologies. Those are expected to be done soon however. Can't wait to see how those who say we never landed on the moon get out of this one. Ten bucks the first thing they say is "photoshop".
fuck you asshole (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - garry))
It's just a pixel.
fuck you asshole
Oh hey let's make a shit first post. Anyway, interesting news, I hope to see the photo's soon.
It's obviously a NASA lie because we never went to the moon :downs: l2read sarcasm retards.
Incoming conspiracies.
I thought to myself maybe my idiot friend who keeps telling me the moon landings never happened might shut up now, but chances are he'll just say they photoshopped them.
moon has acne
moon has acne
Crater face
I saw a very interesting program yesterday disproving the conspiracy theories. Everything that these idiots come up with, the experts found logical explanations for it. Even when they proved that the moon rock was actually found on the moon, these people still stick with the whole "we can never go to the moon". It's slightly depressing that some people don't believe in humanities strive for success, and do their best to sabotage our achievements.

I find it strange that the pictures are so low quality. I mean you can see the moon at night, why not point a huge-ass telescope at it and make some good pictures of it. If they can make pictures of god knows where in the universe, the moon shouldn't be a problem.
It's just a pixel.
No its just 4 pixels wide
I find it strange that the pictures are so low quality. The Hubble only can see a mile in diameter on the moon. The LRO spacecraft can see things 1-2 meters insize. The LEM is 4 meters. If you were on the moon and pointed a telescope towards earth, could you see a car?

These photo's are only at half the full resolution that LRO can take, so there will be higher quality ones to come. They're better resolution than most satellite photographs of the Earth.
Awesome pictures!
I never doubted that we went to the moon, but these satellite don't seem too convincing to me. (if they really want to disprove these conspiracy theorists they should have made sure this new proof is very convincing is what I mean)
Doesn't matter if the satellite pictures look good, the moon landing never happened, bottom line. There's a shitload of evidence against them landing on the moon, but really, the best proof of all is THAT THERE IS A VIDEO RECORDING OF THEM TALKING ABOUT HOW THEY FAKED THE LANDING. What other proof do you need?

You have to be dumb to deny something even after specialists have disproved every "conspiracy" theory.
Got a link to said video?
There was, but it says it got removed for "terms of use violations". Search "apollo 11 talking to houston about faking the landing". There should be a Youtube video as one of the search results.

THE VIDEO YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IS FAKE. NO ONE HAS EVER ADMITTED THAT LANDING ON THE MOON WAS FAKE.

Just because no one admins it's fake doesn't mean it isn't fake.
You know what type of people say the moon landing was fake? Commies.
And how do you know it's fake? Just because no one admins it's fake doesn't mean it isn't fake.
And you know the moon landing is fake how?
Just think about. 1969, Soviet Union is kicking America's ass in the space race and in Vietnam. What can we do to rally America? Use propaganda. What are the monetary profits of going to the moon? None. What are the costs? Extremely high. Best idea? Fake a moon landing, use it for propaganda.
And you know the moon landing is fake how?
Facts. You believe the landing is real because some politcians and NASA say so. I believe it's fake because evidence says so.
You know what type of people say the moon landing was fake? Commies.
Oh lawd. Your name and avatar completed your post.
Facts. You believe the landing is real because some politcians and NASA say so. I believe it's fake because evidence says so.
What evidence? Stupid conspiracy theories created by fat nerds is not evidence.
What evidence? Stupid conspiracy theories created by fat nerds is not evidence.
1. The Van Alen radiation belts stop all but the most shielded spacecraft from exiting the atmosphere. The combined weight of the Apollo ship and the shielding needed would render it flightless. 2. The shadows in the pictures of them on the moon show obvious signs of artificial light. 3. No dust clouds, no dust on the lander, nothing. It's like they never even landed. 4. The lander looks like it's made of tin foil and plastic. 5. If you speed up the "moon walking" clips in the videos taken, you'll notice they're jumping at a normal speed and height, barely going off the ground. 6. The rock seems to be made of paper machete. 7. There is a recorded conversation of the crew talking to Houston about how they're faking the landing.
You know what type of people say the moon landing was fake? Commies.
Actually the commies know we got to the moon. They tracked Apollo on their own shit. Otherwise they would have tried to dig up dirt on NASA faking it, but they didn't, because they knew they were beat.
