We are restarting funding directly via our website, so please check it out and support us there: http://areal.west-games.com/
Official Statement:
Our Kickstarter was suspended without any warning. As per Kickstarter’s policy, we cannot contact them to find out why. Areal is the spiritual successor to STALKER, in terms of our vision for it and in terms of the team that we have (which includes Alexey Sytyanov, the lead game designer and screenwriter for STALKER). You can find out more about us and our team on our website: http://areal.west-games.com/
From the very beginning, we showed what we have accomplished, and showed the atmosphere for what we want to accomplish (https://www.youtube.com/watch…).
The fact is that there are a lot of companies that make their livelihood on STALKER, so when we showed up on the scene, they saw us as a threat and did everything that they could to stop us.
People also need to take into account that Ukrainians and Russians are in an information war right now, and as a Ukrainian developer, we were subject to constant hostility from Russian Kickstarter accounts (we even got death threats). There are over 16,000 comments on our Kickstarter, which is unprecedented for the amount of supporters that we have, and a lot of our comments are hate filled. Some sites, in light of this, chose to report based on sources from direct competitors or from the myriad of comments based on lies. Others chose a neutral ground, because of the confusing situation around us, and still others wrote positively about us. All in all, more than a 1,000 news results come up when you type in “Areal Kickstarter” on Google.
After vice news wrote an article about us, people started contributing every minute, but Kickstarter was afraid of the controversy surrounding our project, so they suspended funding. We set our base goal at 50K; even with 2 days left, we raised more than 64 thousand dollars, and our competitors were doing everything that they could to stop that. Kickstarter is a business, and that was their decision. We were not warned, we do not have a say in the matter, we cannot notify our backers, we cannot message our backers, and we can’t post updates anymore. That is how Kickstarter chose to act.
We are the creators of STALKER, and we know that we can make Areal even better than that series, because of advances in technology, gameplay mechanics, and story. We need your support to make that happen, so we have opened up a website wherein we will continue to raise funds. We ask all supporters of Areal who read this, to please head over to our site and contribute there. PayPal is used for safe checkout, but you do not need a PayPal account to donate. Thank you for your understanding.
Excuse my ignorance, but whats the big deal surrounding Areal
Its a game touting to be the spiritual successor to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R game series asking for help on kickstarter, shit is quite scammy looking even so people funded the fuck out of it, kickstarter shut it down and now we are here.

Complete scam.
Watch as the Areal kickstarter lends its name to identify all further scam projects. It will literally become the Nigerian Prince scam of Kickstarter.
huh they redid their website from the half in English half in ukrainian mid sentence kind of thing to something passable. it's probably still a scam but the actual book Areal by tarmashev is intresting, well beyond my reading level.
after their kickstarter one got suspended? how surprising :v:
This is a scam yeah?
I wonder if anyone is planning a EDoS attack, since it's on AWS.

You can't improve on perfection
You can't improve on perfection
these fuckers stepped on then proceeded to take a shit on the name of the series and its fanbase with this scam.
I haven't really been following this. Why is it a scam? Only thing I heard about it was that there was only one artist from the original Stalker working for this company.

They've been passing off engine shots (which are probably from Unity and not even an original engine of their own) and Stalker assets as being part of their "project", not to mention that they had the backing of "Vladimir Putin."

In the letter, Putin even invited them to play games with him in the Kremlin lol
Also, their lead game designer's photo is a free photo from the internet, you can even google image serch it...

Still using stalker stuff to advertise their game.

It's a shame you cannot see how many people have wasted their money on this so far.

The power of misplaced belief and a steady stream of bullshit.
It's funny. Even if they are scanners, they should have gone and made Areal with the money they were getting. A mere $30,000 is a drop in the ocean of cash they'd get in early access and release from a real game. Of course, that'd take effort but it'd be worth it.

Fucking auto correct. I really need to disable it.
The whole project is a sham but some of the concept art looks actually quite nice.

Wait Vice news wrote an article on them?
Also just so you guys know, the "prototype" shit that they posted on their kickstarter was also not from their own engine, but from unity with some unity store assets.
Wait Vice news wrote an article on them?
Not vice news, but a sub channel of vice did called motherboard.

not only that but the only media they have is from stalker itself
So did they get to keep the 64K, or do they have to start all over again? Considering how scammy this is I really wish the money was refunded by kickstarter instead of just halting the funding.
Nobody lost any money, they stopped it before that could happen.
The campaign was suspended which means unless kickstarter for some reason undoes that, everyone will get their money back
I thought they didn't take money until the kickstarter was over and they got over their goal?
Kickstarter has fully canceled the Areal campaign and all pledges were nullified. That's why they're going for the direct swindle. Their middleman turned on them so they've left out the middleman and are screwing people with that nice warm personal touch.
I thought the AMA where they just pasted from their FAQ instead of answering anything other than softball questions fielded by suspiciously new and sycophantic accounts (probably them on socks) was enough of a warning that they're either frauds or immensely incompetent if by chance they actually are legit. Pasted nothing answers from their FAQ and branded anyone who didn't accept that as an answer to hard questions as a troll.

Don't forget how they spammed their own kickstarter page to prevent discussion, suspect as fuck
