Anonymous - Operation Westboro Baptist Church Video
Westboro Baptist Church is all about hatred. Their signs scream hate. Their voices scream hate. Even notorious hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) hate this hate group, as was demonstrated by a recent KKK counter-protest against them at the funeral of a soldier. (There have been no confirmed sightings of the KKK at the Sandy Hook counter-protests; they’re currently more concerned with Quentin Tarantino’s latest release, DJango). Even haters like the Ku Klux Klan hate the Westboro Baptist Church, as shown in the KKK’s press release denying connection with the church and repudiating their activities. But by far the largest movement against Westboro Baptist Church is the current protest by the Anonymous Internet movement – and it’s about to get a whole lot bigger. Anonymous went on the attack against WBC once they announced their intent to protest funerals of the Sandy Hook shooting victims. After first taking down the Twitter account of WBC spokesperson Shirley Phelps-Roper (@DearShirley, which was subsequently suspended), members of the movement took control of WBC Leader Fred Phelps’ Twitter account and turned it into a Sandy Hook tribute, which — at the time of this writing — is still active. (Visit @WBCFredJr) Anonymous hacked @WBCFredJr’s twitter account and turned it into a Sandy Hook memorial. The group also began a petition on the Whitehouse.Gov website to legally recognize the Westboro Baptist Church as a hate group, and it’s currently the most popular petition there, with over 220,000 signatures (alas, significantly more than the petition calling for gun control). Anonymous posted the personal information of WBC members, including phone and social security numbers (for which the popular @YourAnonNews Twitter account was briefly suspended). The hacktivist were also able to gain entry to the personal e-mail accounts of members, and some of those e-mails have been shared online as well. After countless DDoS (denial of service) attacks on the WBC’s offensively named Website, Anonymous, through their probes, learned that the site was subsequently strengthened by Black Lotus Communications, an Internet security service company that prevents malicious traffic from reaching sites. Anonymous effectively began a campaign against this company, along with any companies that host or assist in the hosting of WBC websites. Because of this, Black Lotus Communications told WikiNews that their company will be donating to groups opposed by WBC, and is considering such organizations as the Wounded Warrior Project and LGBT groups like The Trevor Project. But according to Anonymous, the attack on WBC has so far been fun and games compared to what’s coming tomorrow, as an all-out electronic offensive has been scheduled. It’s unclear at the time of this writing what Anonymous’s plans entail, but judging from past actions, it can’t be good for the WBC. Newtown’s firefighters and others form a human shield to protect grieving Sandy Hook survivors from Westboro Baptist Church. Photo from @aachecchia on Twitter. Hundreds of counter-protesters, including many Anonymous representatives, bikers, firefighters, police, and members of the military, are in Sandy Hook to prevent WBC from adding to the misery of the grief-stricken residents. WBC posted their intentions to appear at yesterday’s funeral for Sandy Hook principal, Dawn Hochsprung, but never arrived to face the human wall that was ready for them. E-mails from the WBC’s personal hacked accounts revealed a new intent to infiltrate funerals on Friday (the same day as the Anonymous offensive is scheduled to escalate) but it’s doubtful now WBC will attempt it. Either way, decent people will be ready to thwart them again, as Anonymous just released another message to WBC via YouTube, that this time includes a tribute, listing the names of all the Sandy Hook victims. How does Westboro Baptist Church feel about all the recent publicity? Being the media hounds they are, they claim to be loving all the attention and reveling in how many people are receiving their message of hatred, as they gleefully re-Tweet every media article. WBC spokesperson Margie Phelps tweeted yesterday, “118,000 Tweets and three Washington Post stories on Westboro message in two days. Woot!” (Note: Even Margie admits it’s Westboro’s message, not God’s message.) Having cherry-picked the Bible verses they choose to live by, the Westboro Baptist church has obviously neglected Matthew 6:1 (among others): “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.”
Addicting Info
Anonymous hacked @WBCFredJr’s twitter account and turned it into a Sandy Hook memorial.
A shame that the account's now been suspended, but still, absolutely glorious.
Wait, they did it? They actually protested at the funeral? Mother of fuck, that's a completely new level of low. [editline]21st December 2012[/editline] Wait, I can't read. They didn't show up.

In my defense, the article states that people were there, protecting from WBC. A human chain protecting from WBC implies WBC was there in the first place.
Can't wait to see what's in store for these wankers next.
Can't wait to see what's in store for these wankers next.
I wonder if Anon still favour the pizza deluge tactic.
i don't say this often. but i fully support Anonymous this time. this is fantastic.
massive gimmick
I'm surprised this actually worked. everytime they do this someone tries to protest against their protest but never really do any damage if any at all. this time the whole fucking village seems to have got together along with anon and whoever the fuck else to take these bastards down. reminds me of some dramatic movie plot
But they don't do anything IRL. We need an real revolutionary!
Somebody just shoot a couple of them already, to show their beloved gods fucking will... In all seriousness they should be banned from protesting.
Never thought there'd be a time I'd fully support Anonymous in doing something like this, yet here I am.
Somebody just shoot a couple of them already, to show their beloved gods fucking will... (although i'm not sure what happens WHEN the white house makes WBC a hate group, maybe the rules do change)
I support Anonymous in this endeavour Well, there's a first for everything
This side of anonymous is fantastic. We need more of this.
Pass the popcorn
It's kinda annoying how hard it is to define a legal line between "free speech" and "being a fucking asshole to everyone, waiting to get attacked so you can sue"
While free speech is awesome and everyone should have their say, everyone should also be held accountable for what they do decide to say. The WBC is a hate group that should not be given the time of day, but some churches and graveyards have elected to create locations for protests miles away from the actual sermon or funeral service. That way WBC gets to have their say and everyone else can pay them no heed.
I wonder if Anon still favour the pizza deluge tactic.
probably standard ruin life tactics pizza and mormons
For fuck sake, it wasn't Anonymous, UG Nazi group hacked their twitter accounts and TheJester used slow DDOS (Sending incomplete HTTP headers to website, and it's waiting for the second part and if it gets enough of these incomplete headers, it will stop reacting) Also, Anons =/= /b/ anymore.
Never thought there'd be a time I'd fully support Anonymous in doing something like this, yet here I am.
Never thought there'd be a time I agree with the KKK about something :v: Seriously though, WBC are horrible people, glad they're finally facing some serious opposition and protest.
It's kinda annoying how hard it is to define a legal line between "free speech" and "being a fucking asshole to everyone, waiting to get attacked so you can sue"
Canada has defined this line, and in my opinion it works wonders.
it would only make that person a martyr if one of them was killed and freedom of speech. sadly, we can't do more. (although i'm not sure what happens WHEN the white house makes WBC a hate group, maybe the rules do change)
As far as I understand it, the White House can't do jack shit to outlaw the WBC, because hate speech is protected under the First Amendment. However, if someone beats up the WBC over their shit-spewing, the WBC are potentially guilty of spreading 'fighting words'.
There are certain well-defined and narrowly limited classes of speech, the prevention and punishment of which have never been thought to raise any constitutional problem. These include the lewd and obscene, the profane, the libelous, and the insulting or "fighting words" those that by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace. It has been well observed that such utterances are no essential part of any exposition of ideas, and are of such slight social value as a step to truth that any benefit that may be derived from them is clearly outweighed by the social interest in order and morality.
However, this argument has failed before, in 2011's Snyder v. Phelps Supreme court case, where it was decided that that Speech on a public sidewalk about a public issue cannot be liable for a tort of emotional distress, even if the speech is found to be "outrageous".
That judge was either paid off or just a retard, IMO.
That judge was either paid off or just a retard, IMO.
iirc they're really good lawyers and will do anything to find a loophole of such, and when they do judge's can't do nothing but accept it because technically they were right
They are more satanist than religious in my terms.
Fred Phelps is a good lawyer
Also, Anons =/= /b/ anymore.
Nobody said they did?
That isn't what fighting words is, fighting words is when you are specifically targeting a person with your speech. The WBC don't target a specific person, but rather a general group of people with their speech.
