In what the organization called an "alarming surge," at least 1,634 people were executed last year, an increase of more than 50% on 2014. "The rise in executions last year is profoundly disturbing," said Salil Shetty, Amnesty International's Secretary General, in a statement. "Not for the last 25 years have so many people been put to death by states around the world." According to the rights group's annual report the dramatic increase was fueled by three nations -- Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia -- who together were responsible for nearly 90% of executions in 2015. That moment when you realize Iraq might actually have less executions than the USA.
That moment when you realize Iraq might actually have less executions than the USA.
Tbf with the whole Crisis going on overthere I kinda doubt those numbers are reliable, especially considering soldiers are posting pictures on social media about whether they should execute Isis combatants or not
That moment when the US has more executions than Somalia; one of the most unstable states in the world.
That moment when the US has more executions than Somalia; one of the most unstable states in the world.
did you happen to miss the plus sign next to that number or
That moment when the US has more executions than Somalia; one of the most unstable states in the world.
Again, i wouldnt trust a reliable report on a country in a state of Crisis
"Executions" mean enforcement of death penalty? Well I support death penalty so I am surprise that these numbers are "high".
Again, i wouldnt trust a reliable report on a country in a state of Crisis
why not i assure you there are people who are very good at analyzing and gathering data from unstable countries, leaving very little room for faulty statistics.
why not i assure you there are people who are very good at analyzing and gathering data from unstable countries, leaving very little room for faulty statistics.
Can you find that data? Because I couldn't in the actual report. It mentions a few executions but these don't add up to the 25+ figure, and I have no idea what the "+" is supposed to mean either.
why not i assure you there are people who are very good at analyzing and gathering data from unstable countries, leaving very little room for faulty statistics.
Surely it only would track executions through the official channels and judicial system, meaning that in conflict/crisis, it would be under-counted?
What the fuck is going on in China?
Can you find that data? Because I couldn't in the actual report. A lot of countries don't release official numbers, so these figures are probably based on the number of people in each country Amnesty knows were executed, with the assumption that there are probably more.
1.375 billion population? It is only 8 times more than USA proportionally, which matters because USA shouldn't even be compared, one is a communist single-party government in Asia and the other is a first-world democracy.
Federal republic.
Really puts in America in perspective. Why the fuck are we still executing people? Oh right, because there are dozens of Facepunchers who may profess to be anti-death penalty but will gladly vote Donald Trump who will rev up the executions.
Who is Chad and why did he kill 10 people?
1. Why the fuck are we still executing people? 2. Because there are dozens of Facepunchers who may profess to be anti-death penalty but will gladly vote Donald Trump who will rev up the executions.
2 does not answer 1
