• Great white shark caught by Mexican fishermen
Two fisherman in Mexico pulled in an unexpected catch earlier this week, a great white shark. The giant fish, measuring almost 20 feet in length, was accidentally netted from the Sea of Cortez off Sonora state. "We threw out some nets in the area and the shark ended up tangled up in the net. It was something we didn't expect- we're not shark fishermen. We fish for sole, rays, all types of fish," said fisherman, Baltazar Berrospe. Fortunately for the two men the massive shark was already dead. "If it had been alive it could have eaten us. We tied the shark around the neck and pulled him onto the boat," he said. "We were very scared but when we saw that it was dead we thought ok, it's dead, it's not a problem," added Berrospe. The great white shark was sliced open on the shore where two sea lions were reportedly found inside it. The local fisherman said he had never seen anything like it before. "Previously there was another one about ten to 15 years ago but smaller." According to local media, the small fishing boat with the extra weight of the shark was towed to shore where bystanders helped drag the beast onto the beach.
Source Video in source. 20 feet apparently, which would make it one of the largest ever. Judging from the vid, it's certainly one BIG fucking shark so seems plausible.
Even Jaws is a victim of the fish cartel.
Twenty-five... ...Three tons on 'im!
And that's why they call it a great white.
Great whites are endangered and they killed one by accident :c
Great whites are endangered and they killed one by accident :c
The article says it was already dead when it was in the net, but I'm not sure if it means the shark died in the net or it was dead beforehand and drifted into the net. It kind of seems like the former is more likely because it's hard for me to imagine a dead great white to just drift into a net like that.
"were gonna need a bigger boat"

Phil?

Sharks have an incredibility hard time swimming backwards, in fact, they can't. They have to bend their body backward and swim away. So when a three ton animal swims into a net designed to entangle fish, It's pretty much fucked. I'm deathly afraid of sharks :o
it was already dead when they found it, it was found a few hours after an earthquake, the poor thing probably got confused 'cause of it and ended up getting to the beach, i live a few miles from there
What does Shark meat taste like in tacos? No, seriously I would like to know.
Tastes like peripheral neuropathy and desquamation.
What does Shark meat taste like in tacos? No, seriously I would like to know.
I heard that it is tougher than regular fish, almost like an actual piece of meat. Not that I have ever tried it, though.

shark tacos anyone?
I'm deathly afraid of sharks :o
Sharks are nothing to be afraid of. Jellyfish and rip currents claim many more beach-goers than sharks each year. Given the number of beach-goers annually, and the number of sharks that are withing range of said beach goers, sharks I would say are actually harmless to humans. People will get attacked by sharks and that will never change. But compared to other things, they are virtually harmless. Hell, if you've ever been to a beach, you've most likely have come within range of a sharks senses. It knew exactly where you were and didn't bother you. If you've been swimming off the west coast, there's a good chance that shark was a Great White much like this one. Sharks really just don't care for humans that much, we're not worth their time and effort to kill. If we were, a populated beach would easily become an all you can eat buffet. [editline]24th April 2012[/editline]
What does Shark meat taste like in tacos? No, seriously I would like to know.
Go to a Mexican fishing town and order a fish taco from a taco cart. There's a chance the meat comes from sharks. Even here in the US half the fish meat sold is mislabeled. In Mexico it could literally be anything. Common threshers are easily my favourite.
The grey nurse would be my favourite shark. They have a torpedo-like shape, and look good in general.
This is getting creepy...
I vote Mako shark as the most torpedoy shark. It's also the fastest.
I have always liked the whale shark entirely due to it's size and that fact that it cannot kill me horrifically.
