I don't know about ASUS with gpu's. it just doesn't seem like their specialty.

The DirectCU II is awesome, its easily one of the best possible retail cooling systems you can get with your graphic card. Drivers and support has been fantastic as well and I haven't had any problems with my last 3 cards.

Its like they just slapped the exact same cooler on every card and hoped it worked. The STRIX is a much better cooler and I'd actually recommend ASUS cards now that its standard.
I'll wait for an MSI 1080 myself, I love the design and it's so fucking quiet.

Even when the fans are ramped up to 100% the card is still very quiet. Having a Strix 390, I find the card to be of good quality. They tend to use better components on their boards, like their VRM. I have been able to achieve some pretty good overclocking results off the 390 because of them. My only complaint is their software. GPUTweak II has some serious memory leaking issues. I have watched the main program and the monitoring software sometimes use in excess of 3GB of RAM, then subsequently crashes. When all else fails, ASUS has some of the best customer service/RMA procedures. I don't need to keep the original box and all the parts. You can send it back in zip lock bag in a beatup box and they'll ship you a new one as soon as they receive it.
