The computer sounds like it's working fine since you can hear it logging in. The monitor's internal cable probably got loose or something (or maybe a GPU issue?). It's probably in warranty, so call HP.

I do wonder the motivation behind such viruses. I mean I understand the ones that try to scare you into giving you credit card details, but those that just shut your computer down as soon as it's awake just seems like assholery for the sake of being an asshole.
