• Obama campaign preparing for major TV ad buy
Republican voters may not have settled yet on a challenger to take on President Obama, but his reelection campaign is laying the groundwork for what could be a major television advertising buy to buttress his standing in the coming months. Campaign officials have requested ad rates from television stations in at least 14 states, according to a strategist with a prominent political media agency, the first step they would take before deciding to purchase air time. That does not mean a buy will definitely occur this quarter, but Republicans are bracing for what they believe will be a multimillion-dollar campaign on the heels of the South Carolina GOP primary. The states the campaign is eying are largely the key battlegrounds for 2012. The list includes Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Iowa. The potential buy was first reported by NBC News. While the Republican candidates and their allies have been battling over the nomination, spending millions on ads that attack Obama in the process, the president’s reelection campaign has been relatively quiet so far. The launch of Obama's first significant television ad buy would signal the kick-off of the general election, even if the GOP primary process was not yet wrapped up. If that occurred, some GOP strategists expect it could trigger a commensurate response on the air by Republican-aligned outside groups such as American Crossroads. "The Obama campaign has really studied the Bush re-election playbook of 2004," said Michael Toner, an election law expert who served as counsel to the first Bush-Cheney campaign. "They've looked at how Bush campaign dismantled Kerry. [They] immediately turned and blasted Kerry literally within days of Kerry being the presumptive nominee." Obama has plenty of funds at his disposal. Last quarter, he raised more than $42 million for the reelection campaign, along with another $24 million that went to the Democratic National Committee. In all, the reelection effort has raised more than $220 million since the campaign launched in April 2011.
http://www.wtkr.com/news/nationworld/la-pn-obama-campaign-ad-buy-20120117,0,2424883.story
It's a shitty way to get elected, running through campaign ads and personal attacks. But, even if Obama didn't do it, his opponents certainly would, and even if he wanted to decry it at that point he'd have to come on TV anyway to do the same thing an ad would've.
I can imagine his adverts already; "My name has nothing to do with anal sex nor does it have the word "Grinch" in it, and I'm not racist or homophobic, vote Obama 2012"
Honestly, I think Obama's got the election. No republican candidate can beat him. The most likely scenario is Romney winning the nomination, a third party conservative candidate running and splitting the vote to give Obama the win. It sucks for him, but the bible belt won't vote for a Mormon.

I was in America during some kind of election in Illinois. American campaign ads are hilarious. They're just the candidates talking shit about one another. It's all about how evil their opponent must be because of something they did that one time in 1987 and next to nothing about what the hell the candidate who paid for the ad actually stands for (If their opponent's ad is anything to go by, it's mandatory puppy blending at schools)

All he has to do is run an ad saying "I'm not completely batshit fucking insane. Vote for them if you want to see America ruined. Vote for me for damage control." Election secured.
Sorry, but looking back at the last three years of his term, i'm not going to trust the man with "damage control".
Yet people voted Bush in for a second term. So, uh, go Republicans?
Yet people voted Bush in for a second term. So, uh, go Republicans?
I dunno, things weren't so bad under Bush from an economic standpoint as far as I can remember. Then again, I was very young, but just the way life was, it wasn't so bad. At least we didn't have to forclose our home under or any time after his administration.
You really can't blame Obama for a global economic recession that started before he took office.
I don't see anything getting better under Obama however, or should he not have to worry about it?
The thing about Obama that I like is that he isn't trying to play dirty like the Republicans. That's worth a vote in my book, anyway.
Am I bad for expecting "The nation finds this post..."?
I don't see anything getting better under Obama however, or should he not have to worry about it?
It is getting better under him, he's regulated a lot of the financial market since and averted what could've been a depression.
I wouldn't mind another term with Obama if he wasn't such a pushover. He does his best and hes got a good head on his shoulders but Congress and others fuck him over and he barely does anything.
It is getting better under him, he's regulated a lot of the financial market since and averted what could've been a depression.
Do you have any sources for that? If anything, his over-regulation is causing many businesses to shut down. Four small businesses in my town were shut down because they didn't meet the EPA's ridiculous standards.
No one watch this ad. They are putting a lot of money into research of mind control in vucks! PENAIUS

You don't just suddenly up and lose thousands of dollars overnight because the government debt is increasing. By the time Bush was voted out, the effects had started to show and take hold. Obama had to deal with that, his possible solutions won't have a obvious effect for a while after implementing them as the money has to come back to the people again, which, much like losing money, isn't instantaneous.
I am quite hopeful Obama wins, since he's evidently done quite a lot. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have such a nice neutral party to vouch for. Probably flip out at how fucked the Western world would be.

Edit: Oh, he reversed a ban on gov't funded stem-cell research. That's pretty neat, but it's the only significant thing I've been able to find so far.

I remember in the 2008 election he had a 2 hour campaign infomercial thingy on a bunch of major networks, including FOX.:v:
How about you find a site that actually lists all the things hes done, rather than just the mediocre, "good stuff".
I would, but somebody else is going to later anyway and I just felt like expressing my opinion a bit.

I hope he gets re-elected but most of America views him as some kind of terrorist constantly trying to take our civil rights away.
