I am going to highschool next year and I need a laptop as my school books will be cheaper for it and as I will be traveling alot in the summer and I need a laptop to take with me. I want to be able to at least play source games and minecraft so it doesn't have to be uber powerful, Would like at least a 17 inch screen but can settle for a 15 inch.

Been looking at this one lately and it looks powerful enough for what I need, Please correct me if I'm wrong though.

Also HDD space isnt too important but would like at least 300+ GB and i could always get a small external drive for it if needed.

Last edit, budget can be flex to $700 if needed but would prefer to stay around $650
What you recommended is more than enough. If you can afford that laptop, go for it; the 540m is quite a strong mobile graphics card, and the i5 2430m is more than enough for what you plan on using it on. 6GB of RAM seems quite excessive though.
I don't know how portable it's going to be though.
Also, Asus is a great choice when it comes to laptops/notebooks.
That one seems fine...
But a laptop for high school? :wtc:

I am going to Trinity high school and they advised that a laptop for books and other school activities would be great on a laptop, Also like I said I plan on traveling a bit during the summer and just need something to at least play source games so I don't die of boredom.

It'll be more portable than my desktop which is great.
