Thursday 23rd August 2012 A FORMER Dorset teacher who went on to star in a national TV advert faces jail for sexually abusing three teenage pupils. Adam Gutteridge appeared before Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to 10 sex assault charges involving three girls at his former school. The 38-year-old, of Earlsfield Road, London, was a maths teacher at Highcliffe School near Christchurch before moving to London and starring in a high-profile TV advert. He worked at the school between September 1, 2002, and August 31, 2007, before his a change of career. Gutteridge also pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child. Kerry Maylin, prosecuting, said the crown would take no further action in connection with that charge. Simon Kitchen, representing Gutteridge, told the court that his client’s wife and family were in court to support him. He said Gutteridge’s wife knew about the offences before any of the victims came forward and the pair had been married for more than two years. Judge Samuel Wiggs adjour ned the case for pre-sentence reports and released Gutteridge on conditional bail. He was ordered to live and sleep at his home in Earlsfield Road, London, and is subject to an electronic curfew between 10pm and 7am. Gutteridge is also subject to the restrictions of the Sex Offenders Register. Judge Wiggs warned Gutteridge that he could be handed a substantial prison term when he is sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on September 21. Gutteridge is a member of the comedy trio The Wogans and appeared as a superhero with the ability to change people’s jobs on a television advert for recruitment agency website Reed.co.|uk. He has also worked as a composer on a radio comedy show for the BBC. A parent, whose son is a former pupil of Gutteridge, said: “This comes as a shock because he was a popular teacher. “Everyone is really surprised at this.” Judith Potts , headteacher of Highcliffe School, said: “We are aware that a former teacher of Highcliffe School has pleaded guilty to several serious offences which were committed while he was based in Dorset. “Adam Gutteridge worked at Highcliffe School between |September 2002 and August |2007, before moving to London. “Mr Gutteridge has had no further involvement with Highcliffe School since that date. “The school has been co-operating fully with the police and Dorset County Council on this matter.” A spokesperson for Reed.co.uk said: “This advert is part of an old campaign that ceased broadcasting in March. “We have no further contact with Mr Gutteridge.”
First thread in Sensationalist Headlines, so sorry if there's anything wrong. This article really hit home for me because I go to the school he used to work at. I never knew him, but considering everybody seems to have said he was a really nice teacher, it must have been really shocking to find out. Oh, yeah, forgot to put the Source in. It's in now.
It doesn't apply in this case, because he's a pretty good-looking guy, but has anyone else noticed how when you hear about such things, offending males are usually feck-ugly, but offending females are typically attractive?

What the fuck? This guy used to teach at my school.
Oh hey I live in Bournemouth I was kinda hoping it'd be one of my primary school teachers that I hated when I was a kid but it's some other school :v:
What the fuck? This guy used to teach at my school.
Oh man it's like when my old maths teacher murdered his girlfriend. That weird feeling
They were 16/17 year old girls, old enough to begin making their own decisions, so calling it sexual abuse doesn't fit so well. Some of the comments are calling him a disgusting perv, but no one says that when the roles are reversed. From his picture he seems like a pretty good looking guy, so I don't doubt some girls would be swooning over him. But he still abused his powers as a teacher though, and he should have known better than to make those choices.
Those poor eyes D:

And it's only worse then they are not adult.
