I have an old Dell Dimension 8200 sitting around and i want to do something with it. It is running Ubuntu 10.04 and is very low spec'd I was wondering if this was good enough to run a simple minecraft classic online server computer specs: http://docs.us.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8200/specs.htm
Yeah, it's good enough. I'd use a different distro though. Ubuntu isn't exactly made for servers.
ubuntu server?
Hijacking this thread, can I use a shitty eMachine that's probably over 10 years old for a l4d2 server? [editline]08:49AM[/editline] Actually it's like 20 years old so

If it's that old, probably not. OP, I have a computer like yours that I ran a minecraft server on for some time. Worked pretty well.
A wired up potato could run a minecraft server This is why games like minecraft are win.
