SEATTLE - A "Social Security Works" rally held at Westlake Park was interrupted Saturday afternoon when Black Lives Matter protestors jumped the stage and refused to leave. The group took over just as Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was addressing thousands in the crowd. "It's about the people, it's about grassroots movements," Mara Jacqueline Willaford, Black Lives Matter member said after taking the microphone. "The biggest movement right now in the country is the Black Lives Matter movement." The emcee of the event allowed two women to speak, prompting boos from some in the crowd.
God damn it Seattle, this is why we can't have nice things in the city. Selfish protesters Source:http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Bernie-Sanders-unable-to-address-crowd-after-Black-Lives-Matter-activist-interrupt-Seattle-Westlake-rally-321146281.html
"I know what will get people to pay attention to our racist "grassroots" movement! Being massively inconsiderate assholes!" Seriously, yes we still have a big racism problem in the U.S. and yes people are dying over it and YES, something should be done to fix it, but the best way to fix that problem isn't be racist in the opposite direction. Hate breeds hate.
Oh yea, because people will just flock to your cause for being total assholes.
The Black Lives Matter group is so full of morons it taints the message to the point of apathy.
"Stop being racist you load of evil white degenerates." This is why not everyone should be able to express their political opinions.
Tired of the Black Lives Matter people. What they don't understand is our government is too fucked to change anything for their cause. Support the guy that wants to change the government, then your issues will really be heard.
For these people BLM isn't about actually making a difference, it's about getting themselves attention and making them feel special.
Calling the crowd "White supremacist liberals" I'm sure insulting the crowd will help you with your movement, and not have the opposite effect. I dont get why these people feel entitled to jump on stage acting like they're the fucking second coming of Christ ("WHY ARE YOU STILL TALKING," "IF YOU DON'T LISTEN TO HER, WE WILL SHUT DOWN THIS RALLY!) and then start insulting the crowd, calling the crowd racist because they were booing them because they fucking came to hear BERNIE SANDERS, not some weaved up hipsters, and calling seattle racist because who the fuck knows why. Its these types of people who put the wrong image on the black lives matter movement.
Watching the video in the link pissed me off. "Racist liberals", "Why are you still talking", "blah blah blah", fuck off already. Yes we get that our police force is fucked up with racism. Yes we get that our government is corrupt. Let Bernie Sanders fucking speak so he can win this election AND BRING CHANGE YOU ENTITLED PRICKS.
Facepunch only cares because it's Bernie Sanders. Most people would be laughing their tits off if it was a Republican.

This is why we see protests that involve blocking highways, vandalizing cars, etc. Also what the fuck even is a "White supremacist liberal" besides several buzzwords someone who shouldn't be speaking out uses to sound like they know what they're talking about?
Don't try to place this on the Black Lives Matter movement as a whole. It was a small group of people doing this and the largest Black Lives Matter groups in Seattle seems to have apologized for the interruption even though it was not them. So yea, don't judge a social movement just because a few fringe people have done something stupid.
For these people BLM isn't about actually making a difference, it's about getting themselves attention and making them feel special.
as i've said previously, it is very difficult to believe these people actually want progress for what they preach when they actively disrupt the person who is giving real solutions to the problem. i believe they want the status quo to be "blacks suppressed by police" so they can continue to make noise and themselves feel good about themselves
Calling them degenerates and morons doesn't really help anyone here. Yeah its rude to interrupt but that's how messages get out there. What do you expect them to do to get people to listen to a group the media largely ignores, politely hold picket boards up and shit?
Facepunch only cares because it's Bernie Sanders. Most people would be laughing their tits off if it was a Republican.
Perhaps because Bernie agrees that theres a major race issue in this country so really they're just shooting themselves in the foot attacking someone who's there to help their movement.
Facepunch only cares because it's Bernie Sanders. Most people would be laughing their tits off if it was a Republican.
Yea, cause Sanders has a history of being involved in civil rights.
Facepunch only cares because it's Bernie Sanders. Most people would be laughing their tits off if it was a Republican.
Because the Republican candidates are a joke anyway, and Bernie seems like the least shitty candidate this nation has seen in a long time so I'm guessing a lot of us would rather like to have him in office.

Just so you guys remember, this happened two or three weeks ago in Phoenix. Fuck these people. Not one of these assholes took the ten seconds to YouTube "Bernie Sanders Black Lives Matter" which he's already addressed. He isn't dodging the issue. Police accountability solves the problem.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease. As this continues to be sensationalized, they win. That doesn't mean I agree with it, but it's working in it's goal to garner attention.
I want them to try this with Trump.
I want them to try this with Trump.
They need to. Sanders is the best chance for their desired change to occur.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease. As this continues to be sensationalized, they win. That doesn't mean I agree with it, but it's working in it's goal to garner attention.
Not all publicity is good publicity. I mean it's difficult for people to come out against "black lives matter" because it's one of those movements that you can't criticize because the name should be what it is, but people are realizing the name isn't what the movement represents. Eventually the general population is going to become extremely hostile towards them, and I can't wait to see that day.
These activists give me brain aneurysms.
They need to. Sanders is the best chance for their desired change to occur.
I want to see it because we all know that Trump would go nuclear. That would trigger BLM, which would only spur Trump on. It would be an infinite cycle of pissing on each other.
From what I'm hearing, BLM has strong ties to Hilary Clinton, so some people are saying that this was orchestrated by her campaign. Whether or not that's true, Sanders could not have handled it any better. He let them speak, and then addressed the crowd on a more personal platform.
Facepunch only cares because it's Bernie Sanders. Most people would be laughing their tits off if it was a Republican.
Nah, I think it would still be extremely disrespectful. Even it it happened with Trump. Though Trump is getting so much attention that he would probably be able to shut them down. Of course if he did, we'd start seeing headlines about how "Trump hates Black people." Same would've probably happened to any other candidate if they didn't allow them to speak either. If they didn't allow BLM to be fucking assholes, then they'd just pull the race card on them.
Facepunch only cares because it's Bernie Sanders. Most people would be laughing their tits off if it was a Republican.
Maybe it's because Sanders has literally addressed every complaint that the BLM crowd has demanded politicians address. I thought it was pretty hilarious when the #sayhername thing was making rounds and Bernie made a point for the next week to say "Sandra Bland" in several speeches. These activists don't seem to even care when they get what they want.
BREAKING NEWS: The other Seattle rally just got ruined as well. My friend just messaged me on Facebook. [editline]9th August 2015[/editline] https://www.facebook.com/pages/Black-Lives-Matter-Seattle/ Wasn't officially sanctioned, they issued an apology.
Watched a bit of the video, it cut to a white male on the microphone saying something along the lines of "we are fully supportive of the Black Lives Matter group..." only to be rudely interrupted by one of the ladies who grabs the mic off his hand to sassily interject "why are you still talking?" What.
what exactly were they hoping to accomplish why does bernie sanders have to be held accountable
my entire goal in life is to be as cool as that guy in the vintage black and white photo raising up that powerful black fist I know i'm like Martin Luther king and malcom x but how am I going to be remembered
