The parents of a gunman who killed six students in California tried to stop him after receiving an email minutes before, says a family friend.
They raced to Isla Vista but heard radio reports on the shootings as they drove, friend Simon Astaire told US media.
Elliot Rodger, 22, warned of his intentions in his emailed manifesto and a YouTube video posted the day before.
...
Moments before he began opening fire, Rodger emailed his parents, therapist and others to inform them of his intentions in a 140-page "manifesto" entitled My Twisted World.
His mother Li Chin called the police before she and ex-husband Peter Rodger raced to Isla Vista from Los Angeles in separate cars, but heard en route about the shooting, family friend Simon Astaire told US media.
Getting him therapy
Calling the cops on him(at least twice it seems)
In general seeming like decent parents
Naw they were just shit parents who can't raise a kid, that explains everything.
God I'm such a knee jerking retard :suicide:
This is a lie. Peter Rodger took photos of naked women's behinds and didn't care about his son.
Read the Daily Mail more, scrub.

I don't think your completely wrong but i think you've but it off in a bit of a douche way.
We don't know much about his lifestyle to be honest and the relationship with his parents.
They at least seemed somewhat concerned, or i at least hope they were.

This, we all know the Daily Mail is a credible source and anyone that doesn't read it is a inferior sub-human.

Actually even from the beginning the only things I could find about his parents were positive, he was seeing multiple therapists and they saw his YouTube threats and immediately contacted police. But there's like 20 pages of "what terrible parents they should have noticed he was mentally ill, they deserve this" bullshit in the other thread.

Ugh, nobody deserves to find out their child has killed 6 people.
Its heartbreaking. I wish i knew more about it before i posted my first judgement on it.
He was definitely crazy but i gotta feel sorry for his parents for having to deal with the mess that their son made,
the trauma from having their child kill himself for something so arrogant as women i swear i wouldn't be surprised if they beat him back to life just to punish him.
Its a whole sad state of affairs, its so sad nobody could intervene.
It was all too late.
I hate Elliot Rodgers, not only because he shot 6 innocent lives and ended them out right or because even though his parents tried to save him, he kept going down this dark path
but because he thought nothing of the consequences. He just wanted a Girlfriend, nay the whole fucking planet of women and didn't care how much drama or if people died if he wanted to make a point.

The positive things about his parents take a cliff dive right around 13-14 years old though.
He resents his mother for not marrying a rich guy so he can live the wealthy lifestyle he so desperately wants to. He hates his dad for siding with his stepmom on issues he's clearly in the wrong on.

This guy is like those twitter users that cried when they got a black iPhone instead of a white one
Wow....and yet the tragedy still happened.
I imagine those parents must feel like total shit. On top of losing their son, they probably feel responsible for those deaths as well.
Jesus, it hurts just thinking about such things.

I've said this in another thread but you know how single teens tend to go through the 'girls like assholes instead of nice guys like they should' phase? Combine that with the rich boy 'fancy shit compensates for a lack of personality' and a crippling social ineptitude and you get this kid.

Something, somewhere went really wrong, because no matter what I hear, this guy just sounds like a despicable human being.

That must have been awful for them.
I dunno if you guys seen or have seen this, but this was psycho..
I've read his manifesto from 13 years old to the end and if you want a good image of this guy's hatred towards women and relationships, look up his manifesto and read the epilogue where he details his idea of a perfect world.
It's one of the most disturbing things you'll ever read.
He actually sounds normal when he describes his childhood (if you edit out about a sentence a page) even bitches about his stepmum in a rational way. Saying she shouldn't discipline him because she isn't his real mum and that his father should be the one to punish him (I think that's a fair argument)
But holy shite from 13+ he just throws all his thoughts in a blender and mixes them with liquid madness.
If only the cops had found some reason to go inside his apartment when they first showed up at his door. It's so tragic to read how close he was to being caught, why was he allowed so much freedom to have his own place where he could stockpile weapons? Did he have a side job that he used his own cash to purchase his guns? Did he use his parents' credit card and no one paid any attention? Clearly his car and apartment were paid for by them, probably his food, too, and although I could be wrong, I can't see this guy working a crappy job when he didn't have to.
So many questions yet none of them really matter since it's over and done with, such a brutal shame this happened, if I had a kid who was this disturbed and I saw those videos, first thing I would do is strip his freedoms to drive a car I paid for and live in an apartment I pay for. That shit is gone until you get the help you need and can appreciate the things you are given in this world.
Hey guys.
Whats the difference between Elliot Rodger and an egg?
An egg gets laid before it cracks.
I'm pretty sure if Elliot's parents had caught him before he went on his rampage they would be dead. I remember reading that Elliot had plan on killing both his parents at some point. So even if they did catch him it is possible that the rampage would of still happened.
Also I know Facepunch hates The Amazing Atheist, but he does a good job putting the story together a little more clearly with Elliot's manifesto in this video.

Kid had the life, fucking new BMW, good clothes, his own apartment at his age.
Fuck why didn't he just go to a whorehouse and get his sex on, damn.

Daily Mail said the common flu is terminal cancer :(
I feel bad for accusing his parents of being bad, now that I know they really did try to help him.
This whole thing has really piqued my interest in psychology though. I hope in the future, psychiatrists are better able to deal with mental problems like this.

His whole manifesto thing, if you want to read it.

This is the first time I've heard about this guy, the first thing I thought: Here lies Eliot, he never scored.

When you are in as much pain and as disconnected from reality as Elliot was, solving your problems is not as simple as hiring a prostitute.
That would have hurt his pride.

He does mention it. He doesn't do it because, again, it means he would have to pay for sex while other guys get it for free from their girlfriends every day.
Yes, that's a direct quote.
Eventually, Sasha had to move out of Santa Barbara, and I decided not to have any more female counsellors. It has the same effect as hiring a prostitute, I imagine. It temporarily feels good for the moment, but afterward it makes one feel like a pathetic loser for having to hire a girl when other men could get the experience for free.
someone should have secretly hired a prostitute for him
someone should have secretly hired a prostitute for him
Simple sex probably wouldn't have fixed his issues.
Simple sex probably wouldn't have fixed his issues.
As much as he would think otherwise I doubt even passionate sex would have helped him (once the relationship broke up)
someone should have secretly hired a prostitute for him
I don't think it was about sex at all.
He was very insecure, and got everything he ever wanted, BUT he couldn't get people to like him.
A prostitute wouldn't have fixed that.
