Does anyone around here do Technical type sketches?

I'm actually trying to model some near-future weapons (2020 - 2030's,) but I am just having a hard time sketching out designs. Anyone got anything lying around that they want to show off, would like to see in 3D, or just want to help someone out?
I know someone here has to know what it's like when you completely lack creativity.
Basically what I'm trying to draw out is things like assault rifles, shotguns, light machine guns, submachine guns, and personal defence weapons. I'm having the MOST trouble with pistols, revolvers, and melee weapons. It's like I can't draw something out without it looking like total scifi tech bullshit.
I've never been the best at sketching or coming up with designs, so any advice on sketch tips and design tips is welcome!
Right now I'm sketching out some sillhouettes, I'll post them when I'm done.

Here we go. Yeah, I'm shitty at drawing. Fuck you. I'm an engineer trying to be an artist. Anyway, the profile of the weapon is more what I'm worried about. This weapon, is supposed to fill the role of Carbine. It looks curved, but it has to do with the angle of the picture. What do you think? Looks not too different from an M4 to me.

Woot, little shitty bullpup micro SMG. It's plagued by crooked lines (notably around the magazine,) I need to draw another one.

There. Fixed 'er up a little.

Here we have another rifle. Ignore the poorly defined edges of the magazine :v:

Here's a sniper rifle that wound up turning out as an assault rifle. I sure like bullpup configs, don't I? I'm actually proud enough of this design to go and model it out, I'll show you guys what I get.

This is how far I got with the model before max crashed. Fuck modelling. I'm done. Every fucking time it's some shit. First gun model, btw :V It's a blank, but hey.

Developed that first assault rifle a few more iterations, this is what I ended up with.

3 iterations of a shotgun and this is what I have. I need to do something with that bar across the barrel, magazine, and flashlight. I think I'm starting to develop a consistent design scheme across weapons.
So yeah, do any of these look worth developing to you guys?
look at http://www.idsketching.com/ and their sketch a day
they're very good at this sort of thing

and the rest of their franchise

I've already learned that I need to draw axis lines so that I can draw things from a composite point of view... Thanks!
Grid out dimensions, do a plan and elevation.. if you're an engineer shouldn't you have some vague notion of this stuff? Maybe I have too high an opinion of engineers

I'm not that sort of engineer :(
I code. I do stuff that isn't seen. Trying to learn how to do visual shit but as you can see I'm progressing very poorly.
Had a heat stroke a few years back. Since then I've pretty much lost my grasp on spatial things. I didn't know heat strokes could be that damaging; but there's a correlation there, don't you think? Even driving's a pain now, thinking I can fit into stuff that I can't :v: And I'm always running into shit when I walk!
But yeah, I figure that if I can take and force myself to do these things, then I may regain some function. If certain paraplegics can retrain themselves to walk, then I can do this.
what you could try is modelling some 3d thingys and then drawing them out without tracing

-snippity-
Hey, that's pretty smart. I agree.

These are orthographic sketches, man.
EDIT: Whoops, posted this instead of editing. Shit.
