I'm currently shopping for an upgrade from my 21.5" screen to have a better immersion in gaming. Things most important to this for me are: - Response time - Picture quality - Build quality of the screen. I have a pretty tight budget (300 euro's). Thus a full HD (1920x1080) resolution is more than fine for me. I care little for the design, swiveling stands or plasticy look due to budget constraints. Response time and things like color reproduction, contrast etc. are most important, and anything else will take a secondary role (though would be nice to have). Is there anything/What's currently on the market that could fill these criterea, without breaking the bank?
larger does not equal better immersion, especially when the resolution is the same. [editline]31st March 2013[/editline] http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?p_id=9579&format=2 This has got very high reviews and is fantastic for the price.
I have the Dell U2713HM, it's incredibly bright. I found this sexy looking ASUS monitor for under 300€ https://www.zercom.eu/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=256741 ASUS MX279H 27" 1920x1080 Its an AH-IPS panel and has 5ms response.
27" 1920x1080 screens are a waste, you're paying a huge premium for no gain in actual screen real estate and pixels the size of school buses. Not literally but you can definitely see a huge difference compared to a smaller screen. Just get a good quality 24" like an HP ZR2440w or Dell U2412M.
Yah going from 1920x1080 at 21.5" to 27" is a huge downgrade with regards to sharpness. 27" is where you need to be WQHD.
If you just want 27" because it'll feel bigger, just go 24" I went from 22 to 24 and was blown back by how huge the monitor was
I went from an ASUS 22" - 1680 x 1050 to a 30" Dell Ultrasharp - 2560 x 1600. I am still in awe of this thing.
I reciently bought a Samsung S27B970 27" WQHD display, I've owned somewhere in the region of about 6 - 8 monitors and this is by far the best monitor I've ever had by a wide margin and I've owned 30" displays
If you want a gaming monitor it's probaly a XL2720T. But tbh, I wouldn't use a monitor that large with a 1920x1080, and anything higher might be hard to get with high refresh rates (Unless you have a CRT)
Don't bother getting a 27" monitor unless the resolution is higher 2560x1440 or 2560x1600
Don't bother getting a 27" monitor unless the resolution is higher 2560x1440 or 2560x1600
I vote this, they are amazing.

I'm planning to sell it to get a higher res one fairly soon.
Loving my 2560x1440 27", it only cost £230 from eBay direct from Korea.

I've been hearing alot about these Catleap/Achievia monitors from Korea Some people love 'em, some people hate 'em I really need a WQHD monitor soon.. I was planning on getting an Ultrasharp used on ebay but perhaps I may just get one of those korean knockoffs.

The stand is less wobbly than the 1920x1080 21.5 benq that it replaced. I love it, but if you go for a big screen you have to commit to buying a high-end GPU to push those pixels. [editline]1st April 2013[/editline] The problem is I cannot find any of them on ebay anymore.
I got the 27" Auria (Korean) Display for $350. HIGHLY reconmmend when compared to other IPS's. Can get it from microcenter btw.

One struggled if everything was on high.

What about Acers new B6s and V6s?
What about Acers new B6s and V6s?
1920x1080 on all the monitors. Also, GAMING monitors would imply having more than 100hz - minimum. That's why until a few years ago, people still used CRT's.
What about Acers new B6s and V6s?
Acer used some pretty low quality panels before, I haven't kept up with it but I doubt they've improved much if any.
OFF TOPIC: What keyboard is that?
that's a laptop there, man.
OFF TOPIC: What keyboard is that?
Pretty sure it's one of these: http://www.msimobile.com/level2_productlist.aspx?id=6
From what I can tell, they are IPS panels from LG + they are very cheap [editline]4th April 2013[/editline] http://www.acer.fi/ac/fi/FI/press/2013/57176
Probably because they're lower grade IPS panels. More tolerance for light bleeding, worse factory calibration, possibly only 6bits although I'd imagine the 1440p one is 8bit.
All cheap IPS panels are defective in some way. They are priced lower due to this. A lot are A- grade but you probably cannot verify this before you receive the monitor. There's a lot of B and C grade panels out there. Dell are known for using A+ grade panels, and charge the premium for this. If color accuracy and definition is important to you (for image editing etc) then don't skimp. For gaming you'll be fine.
They got 2560 x 1440 on the 27" model
You still ignored my gaming statement. Otherwise, it's just a casual monitor.
