The British Meteorological Office is set to offer forecasts about the weather in space.
The 4.6 million pound ($8.5 million) investment is part of a joint project with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Service.
The service will aim to provide early warnings of solar storms that can knock out satellite communications and navigation systems.

I'm sure people will laugh, and say how stupid this is..
Then complain 1000-fold when they have no fucking GPS, and if an even worse CME occurs, no power/communications.

Of all the institutions to establish a weather forecast service for space, why does it have to be the one who often can't even predict for their own bloody country? :v:

It's hard to predict the UK's weather since we're an island and we're in the path of various different streams.
My boss' friend is always going on about how the end is coming, and solar winds are going to kill us.
He is going to be on this.

Guessing your Flagdog is broken then? Or are you on holiday/ using a proxy or something? But yeah, y'know, just the same old complaining about something we probably shouldn't be complaining about- it's part of it all, I suppose. Still, I'm glad somebody's doing this.
