Bird of prey tries to steal womans Pomeranian (dog)

A bird of prey twice tried to snatch a woman's dog as she walked in fields near her home in Berkshire.
Kate Hillman, from Maidenhead, said the large kite swooped down and attacked Vinnie, her five-year old Pomeranian.
Ms Hillman said she tried to scare it off, but the bird kept going for the dog, near Widbrook Common in Cookham.
The RSPB said red kites were not aggressive and the attacks, which happened last weekend, were "very unusual".
Ms Hillman said: "It had been following us for the last minute-and-a-half of the walk and it was just getting closer and closer.
"I thought something is not right here, so I kept him close, and then that was it - it came in for him.
"I actually saw the claws come out and it was huge, absolutely huge.
"I don't know why I did this but I stepped forward, stamped my feet on the floor and shouted 'Oi!' at this bird.
"I've got [Vinnie] in my arms and it's actually coming back down for him.
"So I hurried along to my car and thought 'I can't believe this has just happened'.

"Then exactly the same thing happened the next day."

She said the kite was five times the size of Vinnie, who weighs 2kg.
According to Ms Hillman, there has been a large increase in the number of kites in the area.
Sam Stokes, from the RSPB, said red kites were scavengers who usually targeted worms and road kill.

"They've been reported taking small mammals, but we're talking mice and field voles."

That dog looks like a cotton ball.
Never let your dog borrow money from a loan shark, they're real birds of prey.

That was so terribly executed that you probably won't even be banned, because it can't be considered as a pun.
Hide yo kids, hide yo dog
That thing's paws look like the power puff girl's hands without fingers, just a stubby looking... arm thing...
Its cute though.
Ahahaha that dogs face.
Yeah my neighbors have their chickens snatched by giant hawks and stuff all the time. Even one of their cats got killed by one I believe.
In a rural area, these guys will go after any type of small pet. Even if they're around the owner if the bird is desperate enough.
Pomeranians may be cute, but they're almost as aggressive as a pit bull.

Holy shit.
Predator turned prey? :v:
Pomeranians may be cute, but they're almost as aggressive as a pit bull.
That's because it hasn't been trained properly.
But who can take such a small ball of fluff seriously even if it's pissed off? :v:

Dogs are only aggressive if they have behavioral problems and aren't properly trained, and as far as I'm aware, pomeranians are incredibly placid. I have a pom-pug (easy enough to guess, half pomeranian and half pug) and she's honestly the most gentle and loyal creature I've ever come across in my life. the only weird thing about her is her ridiculous underbite
A hawk tried to get my grandmothers dog a few years back. Luckily she was outside, and had long enough stick to dislodge the dog when it happened.
That dog looks like it's reminiscing in the event like a PTSD Vietnam war veteran.
I know someone who had a Pomeranian. She would lurk under the coffee table and attack your feet when you sat down.
Red Kites are great, they're my favourite birds of prey. It's a shame that there's not so many left in England.
...Why did I imagine a Klingon bird of prey when I read the title?
Am I really that much of a nerd? oh god
Maybe it mistook it for a lost portion of sugar cotton.
These things can be fucking huge

I don't understand why a bird would want to eat that dog, it would choke on all the fur.

Uh?

How I long to soar over the mountains and valleys like the majestic Great White Shark, his brilliant plumage silhouetted against the sky.
"I don't know why I did this but I stepped forward, stamped my feet on the floor and shouted 'Oi!' at this bird.
You heard it here first folks, first port of call when a raptor is on your ass is to shout Oi and stamp on the ground.
Supplementary tactics are to cross ones arms and look at the bird with a very disappointed look on ones face.
I'm glad the ball of fluff lived to cutely yap another day, but I can't help but feel sorry for the poor, hungry, desperate bird.
Oh my god
That dog is absolutely rediculious
goddamn birds are awesome
I wish something like that would happen to me so I could it in the fucking face
I wonder how it would feel to punch a bird across the beak

That's how I would have bolded the story.
shit I wonder how the dog escaped its tractor beam

you know how in the cartoons if the cat got stuck in a dryer, when it came out it would be so poofy it would float away?
That dog is almost at that stage.
