• Argentina vows to prosecute oil companies for drilling 'Illegally' in the Falklands
Daniel Filmus, Argentina's minister for the islands - called the Malvinas locally - announced the case in London. The companies involved are Falkland Oil and Gas, Premier Oil, Rockhopper, Edison International and Noble Energy. Mr Filmus told the BBC the companies were "performing illegal acts by entering Argentine territory". He added: "I want to make it clear for the directors of these companies and for British public opinion that Argentina will use the full force of the law - both national and international law - to prevent these countries from taking the riches which belong to 40 million Argentine citizens. "Argentina has extradition treaties around the world and we intend to use them." He added that the area being drilled was "as much ours as the centre of Buenos Aires. Neither the UK nor any other country would allow anyone to enter their territory and take away their riches."
http://www.bbc.com/news/business-32354222
Hahaha, oh god that's good. Seriously Argentinian government, please get fucked. You'll never have the Falklands, as they do not want to be apart of you. If you attack them again, you are bound to bring the full wrath of the British Armed Forces, and possibly NATO.
So is the deal here that Argentina thinks that the falklands is their's, but nobody there wants to be part of them? Or am i wrong?
"The Argentines will lose," Malcolm Bracken at Redmayne Bentley told the BBC. "They have no jurisdiction - the UN settled the matter in 1982." In fact, he said the country's current position would prove counterproductive. "There'd be an awful lot of logistic support needed for drilling that simply isn't available in the Falklands. They'd need a port somewhere and that's likely to be near Chile rather than Argentina, so they're cutting their own nose off to spite their face."
Tl;dr this is more moronic than the incessant whining, Top Gear controversy and mandatory political propaganda (Las Malvinas Son Argentinas) on public transport all put together

The people of the Falklands have already been through enough. They have decided to stay a British territory. Hell, the UN already settled the issue. Why is Argentina still on about this? What is there to gain?

In a way though their efforts have backfired as this incessant whining has made them go from a screwup to an absolute joke in the eyes of the international community.
I cannot understand why someone would want to be a part of a colonial empire, but I guess with a dick like Argentina it's excusable.
I cannot understand why someone would want to be a part of a colonial empire, but I guess with a dick like Argentina it's excusable.
The UK hasn't been qualified a colonial empire for nearly 70 years.
I cannot understand why someone would want to be a part of a colonial empire, but I guess with a dick like Argentina it's excusable.
Because the Queen is a top lady.
Rev up those promises, this is the last year y'all get to make them anyway
Because Argentina kinda sucks, and they don't want people talking about how much it sucks, so if they perpetuate this illusion of an outside enemy they think they can distract the populace from the actual issues. "We've always been at war with the eastasia" and all that.
I cannot understand why someone would want to be a part of a colonial empire, but I guess with a dick like Argentina it's excusable.
The majority of Falklanders are of at least partial British descent. Very few speak Spanish unless they visit Argentina, they even continue to speak with (slightly modified) Southern British accents after decades away from true British influence. It's not so much that they're part of our (now long-gone and replaced with the Commonwealth) Empire, and more that they're practically an extension of the UK on the same wavelengths as the Channel Islands.
Good luck with that.

Everyone here knows about it. Military options is waaaaay off the table, no matter how "patriotic" the goverment tries to sound like. This is more of a charade to distract the people of some of the real issues, and keep in mind this year is an election year, so get ready for more public stunts like this over the Falklands/Malvinas.
So is the deal here that Argentina thinks that the falklands is their's, but nobody there wants to be part of them? What's funny is that only a few years ago Argentina and the UK signed a treaty guaranteeing a 50/50 share of oil royalties if oil was found in the Falkands. Argentina however ripped it up and said they were withdrawing a couple years later, then the UK found oil and gas under the islands so they're fuming over it.
Loss Marvin ass soy sauce :suicide:
