Through the Genotype Renovations design service, as a female, you can choose whether or not you wish to retain the ability to mate with and produce offspring with either a human male or Phenotype Renovations client, or to become a Genotype Renovations client and gain the exclusive ability to produce offspring with another Genotype Renovations client of the same Morphic Series subtype. Hybrids whether between Morphic Series subtypes or between clients and non-clients are not viable.
As a male, three options are available: (1) no change, which means human offspring are possible with human partners, (2) copywritten gamete modification, and (3) non-copywritten gamete modification. Copywritten gamete modification is an intermediate option that allows Morphic Series offspring to be conceived with a female Genotype Renovations partner, however, those offspring will either be infertile or have human gametes for human-only pairings, at your option. Non-copywritten gametes will perpetually pass on their characteristics, essentially introducing your Phenotype Renovations design as a new chapter in the biological record of time.

Assuming we knew enough to turn people into combinations of humans and animals, you may as well just give a normal person super-strength and shit.

But, in all seriousness now: While people becoming furries would be horrible (The people willing to do that blah blah annoytron machines etc etc. see above), has anybody thought about, well, human-animal hybrids? Call it "genetically-engineered super-furries".
They would be made from scratch (i.e. grown from a fetus) so they would not be the annoying, ass-backwards, pants-on-head retarded furries you see on pounced.org or something. They would probably think like humans but with a few characteristics of animal behaviour, like you know those animals that have social behaviour.
In any case it would be interesting to see how it develops, because quoting Larry Niven: Life is so horribly boring with only humans to talk to.
