Watching too much television can make you feel a bit brain-dead. According to a new study, it might also take years off your life.
The more time you spend watching TV, the greater your risk of dying at an earlier age -- especially from heart disease, researchers found.
The study followed 8,800 adults with no history of heart disease for more than six years. Compared to those who watched less than two hours of TV per day, people who watched four hours or more were 80 percent more likely to die from heart disease and 46 percent more likely to die from any cause. All told, 284 people died during the study.

I'm doomed
It's pretty well known that not exercising shortens your lifespan, but it has nothing to do with TVs (if you sit on your ass looking out of the window it's the same thing). While you are in your teens you can eat junk food and sit on your ass all day (unless you have a predisposing condition), but when you start getting older you should always do some motion (it would be best to do so in your teens too).
There's pretty much no difference sitting behind your monitor or your TV playing games.
So, to gamers who never watch TV, we're still fucked.
I just never watch T.V. anymore since all the shit they are showing is just plain shit. Now if I was to have the Science channel that would be a different story.
By the way how did they come up with the information that if you spend more time watching t.v. that you can get heart disease? Probably the heart needs exercise to be in good condition.
It is basically the same as lying in bed with the light on.
So basically, sleep is killing you.

No, sleep is restoring you. Unless you lay in bed 24/7
ITT CNN poops out numbers without revealing any information about the test subjects, like age range, or the actual cause of death for the 284 lucky winners.
Doing ANYTHING in excess can kill you. But TV doesn't directly link to heart disease. Magic television rays won't find their way into your body and fuck up your heart.
Too many games = No exercise = Heart problems
Too much laying in bed = No exercise = Heart Problems
Too much TV = No exercise = Heart problems.

I'm not really surprised, it's called the idiot box for a reason.
