So uh, currently I have logitech x-540 and they're not doing well with my asus xonar d1, like they can't handle it. When there's bass, sound becames quieter etc (just fyi: they were better with onboard realtek hd, but only on low volume. On high volume the sound usually turned into a noisefest.). I want to buy (not right now, I'm still considering) good 2.1 speakers, but I have no experience in buying speakers, so I need some help choosing.

And then the thread linked in the last post.
Can't find neither in Russian stores
Also, my budget is about $300
I use this

The sound is incredible
Klipsch Promedia 2.1
They're probably the best purchase I've ever made (and they blow away similarly priced logitech shit)

Thanks, I'll think about them but they're kinda expensive (~$500 in russia)
They should be around 250-300, they do sound great though.
The logitech isnt bad, the onkyo and klipsch is just better.
Altec Lansing make great sounding speakers. Like, on the lower end models, the wattage may be low but they produce a surprising amount of bass. All of their subwoofer enclosures are made out of wood.

Don't mean to thread hijack, but do I need a sound card for a 2.1 Speaker System? (The Klipsch Pro Media in particular?)

Hey, about logitech, I googled some reviews for the promedia 2.1, found one review where they tested a bunch of speakers and they found Logitech Z623 and Klipsch Promedia 2.1 very similar in terms of sound quality (I won't link to the review because it's in russian). Logitech is very popular in Russia so they will be easy to find, unlike the Promedia 2.1.

I heard them both and the klipsch has way clearer high's.
Sound quality is to some extend open to opinion though. If you really want to make the right choice you should head over to a store with some music that you know and try them out.

I can't bring my PC with the soundcard to the store, you know :v:

mp3 player/cd.
Also I don't know shit about ordering things from Amazon, eBay etc, can they ship in Russia?
This for example
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HTX-22HDX-Ultra-Compact-Theater-System/dp/B003BEDQRQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312846410&sr=8-1
The price is very good
mp3 player/cd.
The only mp3 player I have is my cellphone (SE w995), and I don't think it's comparable to my soundcard
Oh and keep in mind that my soundcard only has five 3.5mm jack plugs (one mic input and four audio outputs)

A cd player usually has way higher quality sound then any soundcard. And for selecting a speaker set an mp3 player/phone is more then comparable enough.
Those outputs are for a 5.1/7.1 setup you will only use the stereo output for any of these systems.
I dont use either but I think amazon is just an internet store while E-bay is an international auction site for consumers.
Has anyone heard how the Corsair SP2500 sound or perform? I would imagine that Corsair would make a good product.
