I bought a laptop with intel hd graphics by mistake. I thought the system had an nvidia graphics card, but later i took it home and found out that it has a different graphics card that is integrated! Is there any possible way to replace an integrated graphics card? If not then I'm screwed.
no
Its screwed. Take it to the backyard and put it out of its misery.
If only i could take it back. I the only thing i have is the warranty left on it for 2 years...
Your fault for not researching what you are buying, really. Unless the ad states that the laptop comes with a nvidia gpu and send you a computer with intel gma, then you'll have to deal with it
how is it possible to buy something by mistake, unless you hit a wrong button somewhere along the line. There's no way to replace the graphics , so either ask to return it, or sell it and use the cash to buy a new one, you'll probably have to lose some cash through selling, but hopeful it'll teach you to be more careful. :colbert:
Are the Intel HD GPU built into the iCores any good? I heard a few people give reasonable reviews but I class most of them as mentally retarded apes who say it's good because they can play facebook farmville...
Obviously there not going to be to the standard of seperate GPU's but I mean compared to the shitty onboard ones from the past?
So yea, the ones built into the i5 chips etc, they actually reasonable considering there built into the CPU?

I've heard they are supposed to be reasonably good for IGP's. But then again, that isn't really saying a whole lot.
Intel GMA is horrible as always. It should only be used when battery life is a consideration and no games are played. Then again, all new nvidia gpus have Optimum that does this switching for you.

Get student insurance for £50
Leave it on train
Buy new one
This sir, is how I bought my new laptop back in the day. Of course, this trick works better if you're actually a student...
No, you cannot add a dedicated card to a laptop. The Intel HD cards can barely scratch 20fps on low settings on even semi-recent games.
Well if it's a sandy bridge GMA 3000 it's a lot better than they used to be.

Old Intel graphics cards were a pain in the ass litteraly
Sell it for less then its worth and save up again to buy a good laptop.
Intel Intergreated graphics = graphics 3-4 years ago
Yeah you're pretty much screwed

Why were you sticking them up there? You nasty.
Head to craigslist and sell it for more then you bought it for or exactly what you paid for it and just buy a better one.

I only used a Intel graphic card back when my Nvidia card was dead, and when waiting a new one
It was pretty terrible for every game

Or if you wanna sell it, just PM me :)
i bought it for $779 two months ago. The computer i bought was the same model as the one next to it which was actually the one i want. That one had a nvidia graphics card, the one they gave me doesnt.
I just put up an add on craigslist. anybody want to buy a barely used computer for $650?

Where do you live?
Dad needs a new laptop since the one I gave him is dying.
Also, specs if possible.

If its brand new, yeah. People will buy it for $650.
Now the question is, why didn't you just return the product and take the restocking cost?
i cant find the receipt.
specs are:
640gb hdd
6gb ram
i5 480 processor
intel hd graphics
I live in Oregon.
That's not too bad.. espcially if you want to sell it on craigslist. You could save up some money and get a SB laptop instead.
SB laptop?
Sandy Bridge, the new architecture from Intel
The i5 480 is from the older Core series. Essentially, it's less powerful than a Sandy Bridge CPU.
oooh gotcha. I just didnt know what the abbreviation meant.
