[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/DSC08920.JPG[/img_thumb] This is my (or OUR (My brother and I caught it) praying mantis. HER name is (You decide). We found it while moving, and decided to capture it. We stored it in a jar on the way home, then in a terrarium. [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/DSC08932.JPG[/img_thumb] Dirt, sticks, leaves, and some food. (Crickets). [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/DSC08936.JPG[/img_thumb] We caught a LIZARD so we decided that it was its time to die. [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/DSC08942.JPG[/img_thumb] Neither of them did anything. They just sat around like idiots. I assumed it's because it ate too much crickets and now doesn't have any interest in the lizard. [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/DSC08945.JPG[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/DSC08947.JPG[/img_thumb] D'awwwww So later, my brother, our dad and I wanted to make the two fight again. [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/DSC08950.JPG[/img_thumb] Nothing eventful happened so we put it back. The Praying Mantis is still alive and well, at least for now. We've got enough crickets for a couple days, and the bait shop is pretty close by. :siren:Video to come soon of feeding and possible egg laying.:siren: Discuss gameboys while I update the thread in the near future. FACEPUNCH, NAME MY PRAYING MANTIS.
2 problems here 1: You didn't ask us to name it for you 2: Lizards are awesome, never feed one to something. I suggest we rename him to 'Ricardo'.
yeah ok you guys name it.
let them be free :(
Name it Richard Simmons.
Lizard would fuck that mantis up...it use to be a dinosaur.
I seem to recall that capturing a praying mantis was illegal or something to that effect. Does not appear to be so, so I guess you'll have no worries. Keep it in good care though. Orchid Mantises are illegal in the US.
Now you begin to build and train your army...
Name her Paul.
Name the Praying Mantis "Reptile" and the lizard, "Insect".
The lizard is invasive. It's brown AND Cuban. Instant death around here.
(You Decide) is a beautiful name, is it Greek?
We're not feeding him Green Anoles. [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline]
(You Decide) is a beautiful name, is it Greek?
French.
Praying Manteses (plural?) are awesome. A few summers ago I bought a little cup of baby ones and let them loose in my front yard. They obliterated most of the small insect/pest population and were just generally really helpful.
call her psycho mantis
We're not feeding him Green Anoles. [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] French.
So that is why it surrendered to the lizard.
It will probably die in a couple of days the way your treating it
"opisafag"
Name her... Sister Agatha!
Name it "Garry's Wife"
Name her Olga BigBoobs.
Name it Empress.
Name it Widow
I used to have one, my grade 5 teacher gave everyone in our class one for a project. Mine was the only one that survived for 2 years, I buried it in my back yard when it died. She got to about 15 cm long on a diet of crickets and aphids. Also, I named it Manty.
Do what I do to all my pets. I name them by what kind of animal they are. Name the lizard Lizard and the Mantis Praying Mantis.
Name it Praying Mantis
and name the dog cat and the cat dog. [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] It's an atheist mantis... why is it praying?
Name the Praying Mantis the Crusading Athiest
The reason why the praying mantis + lizard didn't do anything is because the praying mantis eats INSECTS. A lizard isn't an insect. It isn't that it's full, it doesn't want it because that lizard doesn't appear as food to the praying mantis.
My Agnostic Mantis is better.
