• The Pirate Bay Sails to Greenland But Is Turned Away
The buccaneers running the world’s largest file-sharing website are sailing shore to shore to find respite from an ongoing legal barrage, but it’s becoming harder to secure a place to call home. The Pirate Bay, a music and video sharing site founded in Sweden a decade ago, earlier this week changed its domain from the “.se” that is custom in Sweden to Greenland’s “.gl” in a move that was considered to be an attempt to avoid being shut down by its home country. But Greenland’s Tele-Post, which administers .gl domains, quickly blocked domains operated by the Pirate Bay. Tele-Post, based in the capital city of Nuuk on Greenland’s southwest coast, based its decision on a verdict set earlier by the Danish Supreme Court that found the file-sharing site to be in violation of copyright laws. Greenland, an autonomous part of Denmark, received self-determination in 2009, but the country’s judiciary remains under Danish rule. The plan for the Pirate Bay to move to Greenland’s .gl domain would likely have severed the last ties between its native Sweden and the site, which has long been a thorn for copyright holders and advocates. The Swedish Pirate Party – a political group backing the site — in February decided it would yield to pressure from copyrights holders and no longer provide technology needed to access to the site. For now, the Pirate Bay has resumed its thepiratebay.se address. Torrentfreak, a website dedicated to news on filesharing, said Friday that the Pirate Bay likely has plenty of domain names in reserve, so landing back at a “.se” domain may be temporary.
http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2013/04/12/the-pirate-bay-sails-to-greenland-but-is-turned-away/
thepiratebay.so. Make it happen!
North Korea, seriously.
I'm still wondering when they are going to launch low orbit satellites.
Time to build a sever out at sea and run wire to it.
The only safe haven is the center of the sun.
Piracy is just as bad as stealing, why do you guys sympathize with these guys? They also make profit from the theft, by pushing ads everywhere.
They aren't stealing.
The only safe haven is the center of the sun.
confirming the world would be a better place if TPB was fired into the sun along with "pirate rights" babbies
-snippedy doo and a fuck you too-
It is already impossible to take down the Pirate Bay because anyone can host their own Pirate Bay now :v:
Piracy is just as bad as stealing, why do you guys sympathize with these guys? They also make profit from the theft, by pushing ads everywhere.
I'm against piracy, but I'm more against record companies being massive dicks about everything, so in this case, my sympathy is with the little guy. Once publishers quit fucking over artists' works in industries where piracy is an issue, my passive moral support from the sideline will go away. Because like any upstanding citizen, I, too, hate poor people and their petty problems.
They also make profit from the theft, by pushing ads everywhere.
Because running one of the most popular websites on the internet is free.
Piracy is just as bad as stealing, why do you guys sympathize with these guys? They also make profit from the theft, by pushing ads everywhere.
You cant steal something that is infinitely replicable. Stealing is taking something away from something that already has it. It's just a violation of copyright law, which as everyone knows is a fucking mess. Also, theres plenty of far worse ways to make a living *cough* monsanto *cough*
Piracy is just as bad as stealing, why do you guys sympathize with these guys? They also make profit from the theft, by pushing ads everywhere.
Piracy is illegal/unauthorised copying of files that would be otherwise purchased/legally obtained, that isn't theft per se.

If stealing didn't involve a financial loss of any sort, it would be legal.
Piracy is just as bad as stealing, why do you guys sympathize with these guys? Its not their fault if people use it for piracy.
Time to build a sever out at sea and run wire to it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Sealand They should buy it and move the servers there
They aren't stealing.
Pirates are just as bad. Imagine if everybody pirates, no profit for any hardworking people. I know i'll be pissed if some douche pirate a movie I worked hard making. I'm not berating pirates really, it's just the fact that you guys pretend it isn't unethical and bad for the economy. There's certainly a clear bias on facepunch because most of you guys are guilty of piracy. Not being a whiteknight or anti-piracy guy.
You are stealing, because you are getting a product, and the people who make said product are not getting money from it. If stealing didn't involve a financial loss of any sort, it would be legal.
it isn't a loss of profit if the pirate wouldn't pay for it in the first place I wouldn't go buy a $5000 80 inch turboHD plasmoid TV but if one formed out of thin air in my living room I wouldn't have a problem with it
Its not their fault if people use it for piracy.
It kind of is. They encourage piracy like no tomorrow. It's in the god damn name. thepiratebay.se. Try Argentina. thepiratebay.ar(r)
The Pirate Bay are hardly the little guy here
Well, the MPAA sure as fuck ain't, either.
So it's ok if hardworking folks get fucked if record companies got fucked too.
The pirate bay guys don't steal anything, they just host a platform for the free sharing of files.
It kind of is. They encourage piracy like no tomorrow. It's in the god damn name. thepiratebay.se.
Google are just as guilty as they are, they both just provide links.
Google are just as guilty as they are, they both just provide links.
Yes, google. The guys who remove such links per legal requirements. The guys who sponsor legal results. Just as guilty, eh
So it's ok if hardworking folks get fucked if record companies got fucked too.
Not really. To be honest, my main cause of support of the pirate bay is that it's friggin' hilarious most of the time. Guys got humor, puts a bit of tounge-in-cheekiness to stuff. Piracy itself, eh, fuck it.
Anyone trying to claim that they're doing this and that should watch the movie about The Pirate Bay before posting.
