• Why hasn't "under god" been removed from the American pledge?

It's blatantly unconstitutional as it infringes on separation of church and state, and it was only added during the Cold War by some priest because back then if you were an atheist you were considered a Russian red commie who wanted to burn the capitalist pigs. Goddammit, america. Same goes for the motto "In God We Trust" now that I think about. Fff-
God Bless America. :911: Also yeah it's pretty misleading. and justice for all my ass
Why do you honestly care so much it's not like you read the constitution in everyday life.
I'm pretty sure they left it in just to bug you
It should be removed because the US is now over god.
Why do you honestly care so much it's not like you read the constitution in everyday life.
It's the document that grants me my individual rights as an American citizen, I kind of care about it.
Why do you honestly care so much it's not like you read the constitution in everyday life.
In school they force you too say it every morning.
Why do you honestly care so much it's not like you read the constitution in everyday life.
what what what what
In school they force you too say it every morning.
That's the pledge, not the Constitution.
They were thinking: Maybe if we make everyone say under god SgtCr4zyGunz will make a thread about it....
In school they force you too say it every morning.
Nobody forces you, you have the right to remain seated. In before every republican in existence is blamed.
Nobody forces you, you have the right to remain seated. In before every republican in existence is blamed.
I don't know what kind of awesome school you went to but in my elementary, middle, and high schools you got in trouble for not standing up.
You know that you won't get it changed by posting on an internet forum right? Plus I hope it doesn't get changed..
Plus I hope it doesn't get changed..
Elaborate.
That's the pledge, not the Constitution.
The thread is about the pledge.
It won't change. Too many religious people.
Because we're not going to change something because you don't like it.
You don't have to say under god. Just skip that part, little cry baby.
It's to keep away the commies, I shit you not.
If Dwight D. Fucking Eisenhower wants "under God" in the mother fucking pledge, it will be in the mother fucking pledge. I'm pretty sure there are multiple states which do not say the pledge because of that. So if it really pisses you off that much, move there or out of the country.

And you people are retarded, I'm not whining or crying or HULK SMASH RAGE, I don't see how being angry with the issue of separation of church and state, a very important issue, means I'm "crying".
You don't have to say under god. Just skip that part, little cry baby.
See above.
Because we're not going to change something because you don't like it.
The fact that I like it or not is not the issue. The issue is that it infringes on separation of church and state.
Because you are complaining about a very minor issue in a school system.
I didn't realize government and religion were minor issues, sorry.
Related news article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A26255-2004Jun8.html I think it's staying in the pledge for tradition's sake. Complain to your school board if you don't like it and start a religious debate. If your school is anything like my school, they will hate a religious debate.

See above.
"God" is an umbrella term. It does not say under the Lord Jesus Christ my Savior and God. If you're an atheist, what does it matter? "Oh darn I said under God, now I have to be a Christian :saddowns:." You get over with it, and you get back to school. After you graduate/drop out, I highly doubt you will ever say it again. Church and state is separated. There is no state religion, we don't have laws like "no eating ham/fish/pork" just because some religious text says it's wrong, and we don't go around banning heretical material. Just because there are two words in a pledge you aren't being forced to say doesn't mean OMG THE EVIL CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS RULE THE GOVERNMENT!!!!. Just don't say it.
Pretty sure the Illuminati did it just to piss you off.
You made a political thread on a forum full of mostly kids, you won't get anywhere. Anyway, I agree, it should be removed, but everyone thinks kids are too dumb to know about the constitution, so they don't get their rights. [editline]03:18AM[/editline] By the by, a school can't force you to say the pledge, and if they try you can go to court with them. I don't say it myself. And no this doesn't mean I'm some anti-America person, I'd defend my country as it's the country I was born and raised in, but it doesn't mean I agree with everything that happens.
Because having something to look up to and think is more powerful and to stay true to morals is there for a reason.
My teachers don't like it when I don't want to stand for the pledge. The thing you brought up about our currency reminds me of how my brother blacks the word "God" out of all his paper currency. hah

I'm p. sure he was referring to the Christian God. And I'm not saying OMG THE EVIL CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS RULE THE GOVERNMENT!!!, stop quoting me out of context and plain old making up bullshit.
