I heard LGA 1156 and dual video cards via SLI/Xfire aren't as good as LGA 1366. Is this true? Also, are their any other differences between the LGAs? I also heard that the i9 will be LGA 1366. Is any of this true?
there isn't much difference. Later today/this weeek I'll put my gtx 275s in my xeon x3440 (LGA-1156) build and I'll find out myself.
on 1156 it's limited to 2 x8 slots, which doesn't matter anyway because no card maxes x8 differences, dual or triple channel which doesn't matter anyway also
$1000 for a server CPU $1000 for a workstation CPU $1000 for a server/workstation CPU on a server/workstation socket

I don't, how much?
A x4 slot kinda bottlenecks some cards. But a 5970 isn't even bottlenecked by a x8 slot.
the 4870X2 apparently uses a tad over a x8 slot... I used x8 x8 on my 920 with my 275s and it made no difference from x16x16. But those cards would not use more than a x8 slot
got proof? :eng101:
I can't find one with the 5000 series card but here is a sli gtx 280s. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/13276-evga-x58-sli-lga-1366-motherboard-review-13.html
.. dual cards are the ones that would use a tad more than a x8 slot.
I don't, how much?
No I was asking a question, I have 2 5770's in crossfire but my mobo only supports 8x/4x for the slots when run like this.

the minimum is a x4 slot. X4 for data, the extra lanes are all for bandwidth..
