sauce http://www.latimes.com/news/local/politics/la-me-marijuana13-2010jan13,0,5737380.story basically, it's been passed by a council but needs to go through another legislative branch or some shit, i'm too high to understand right now. but anyways, this is a pretty big step. if it passed this time, it can pass again. unfortunately, probably take until next year to get to the next step. but still, pretty awesome. we've been making big steps in the past few days, first with NJ medical, and now this.
I don't think it will pass, I'm hoping but I doubt it.
even if this doesn't pass this is a HUGE step forward
Yeah bring me champagne when I'm thirsty. Bring me reefer when I want to get high. Yeah bring me champagne when I'm thirsty. Bring me reefer when I want to get high. Well you know when I'm lonely Bring my woman set her right down here by my side. Well you know there should be no law on people that want to smoke a little dope. Well you know there should be no law on people that want to smoke a little dope. Well you know it's good for your head And it relax your body don't you know.
If this happened California would practically be seperating themselves from America. Pretty amazing.
Badass on so many levels. Really hope some east coast states start stepping it up a bit. We have a couple, but nowhere near as much as the west.

I'm canadian. And when I say canada I directly refer to its government.
California will always strive to be a trend-setter; though this issue has been on the bill for a while hopefully it pulls closer to passing this time around.
Next we should eliminate the drinking age.

Fuck this bill, the one on the November ballot is a lot more likely to pass. But with the fact that the regulation and sale is done at a local level, my Republican-dominated county (Orange County) probably won't allow shops to sell weed.

The only real reason weed is even illegal is because the government can't tax it, like they can tabacco products.
Wild weed is worthless.
Whatever floats your boat.

The fuck is wild weed? You mean shit that just grows in the forest somewhere? It probably is worthless, all the good strains need to be cared for extensively and are crossbreeds of other strains. also why did people rate my OP late and bad reading, dumbasses.
I've been following this legislation pretty closely. From what I know, the bill passed the public safety commission hearing 4-3, but it won't get voted on again due to time constraints in this legislative calendar, so the bill will expire. Tom Ammiano, the guy who introduced the bill, said he would reintroduce a similar one in a few months. Also there's some kind of petition to get a proposition on the ballot next november. Not really sure about the details on this. Just waiting for them to put something on the ballot so I can vote yes... [editline]8:12PM[/editline] ᵛᵛ Thanks for the info, now I just gotta register.

I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. "The times they are a changin'!"

We have Arnold (who's smoked pot before), we have the thousands of old hippies in San Fran and SoCal, and the thousands who've already purchased medical cards. If it doesn't get passed it'll be a very close outcome.
