Hundreds of students have stormed the Taiwanese government's headquarters in protest at a deal that will bring closer trade ties with China.
They used a vehicle to knock down barbed wire gates outside the Executive Yuan in central Taipei.
Another group of students has occupied the parliament chamber since Tuesday.
The protesters fear that the agreement would make Taiwan susceptible to pressure from China, which believes that Taiwan belongs to the mainland.

Watch China attempt a Putin.

Nah, they know the kind of backlash they would get from the international community.
China is rather evil but not brazen like Russia

ya they are very passive agressive in that respect, they'll do things like park ships near by, produce maps claiming everything is theirs, extend no-fly-zones through international waters, but in the end they are still very cautious and they are to some extent more of a 3rd power instead of russia's croney. they have pretty much stayed out of the whole crimea and ukraine thing.

I wouldn't call them evil, so much as pissed off over being stomped on during the late 19th - mid 20th century.
They'd much rather have an asshole-ish, Chinese-run government than a benevolent, foreign government. And I don't blame them.
Tiwan has has it rough for a long time. They still think of themselves as the legitimate China.

No. Crimea is not Taiwan. A Chinese invasion of Taiwan will be met with military force regardless of who's in power, and severe backlash from the international community since Taiwan is a highly developed country in comparison to Crimea. Backlash as in, cutting off diplomatic ties, blanket economic sanctions, and so on. Things China cannot afford.

Not really, no. The largest political party sees the government in Taiwan as the 'legitimate Chinese government' but only in a long-term sense, and advocates the status quo of 'Two Chinas' for the short-term. The second-largest party actually advocates for Taiwanese independence.
