I'm convinced ATI/AMD is a joke after trying to get support for my Radeon HD 5770
43 replies, posted
I've made 2 threads on their forums, the first made a very subtle one-liner joke about "should've bought nivida" the second was just a plain vanilla "here's my problem, here's what I've tried" thread. Registered on two ips and both threads, one after the other (aka I posted one after the other was missing), were deleted along with the accounts . The best part is, no notification whatsoever, just gone.
Here's my issue http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com/forum/hardware-problems/48439-suddenly-ati-radeon-hd-5770-code-37s-me.html
Read the above link before posting
Does anyone here want to attempt to troubleshoot this for me? No I'm not reinstalling my OS, its perfectly fine, barley touched. This problem is solvable without doing that and will just happen again until I properly fix it.
Thanks.
reinstall your drivers
Are you on the latest drivers?
Calling them a joke after having trouble with a single product that you couldn't get support on in a community based forum is pretty dumb.
[editline]13th January 2011[/editline]
And who's the maker of your card? Pretty sure that's where you should be looking for help.
All 3 of you need to read the post linked in my thread. I'm not answering blatantly obvious questions.

And you're right, I should have used their online support and support emails. Oh wait, they don't seem to exist.
I made a thread and 2 other users posted confirming they had the same issue and the thread still got deleted. Its laughable. The forum isn't community based; its their official forums which their employees moderate.
You're trying to upgrade a non-gaming prebuilt. What mobo does it use.
Wow sorry I expected it to have a shit card in it since your getting a 5770

I did read your thread, and it has no information I was looking for. Who is the manufacturer of the card?
You're trying to upgrade a non-gaming prebuilt. What kind of mobo does it use.
Non-gaming? Its an FX6840 with a 1GB DX 11 Graphics card. How is that non-gaming? A little overkill for Microsoft word don't you think? The motherboard is in the dxdiag file but I'll reiterate it: intel core i7 860 4 cpus 8 threads, goes in the intel 900 series family.
Also there was nothing to my knowledge that I did to cause this. As the thread said, it was working one morning fails the next. The last time I updated the drivers were about a month ago and that was version 10.10 I believe. (latest version on site is 10.12)
I did read your thread, and it has no information I was looking for. Who is the manufacturer of the card?
ATI or AMD? It is an ati card isn't it... where would I find this information if its not in the dxdiag dump?
Did it come with the PC? Look at the card, it should be made by some company, I don't think Gateway makes Video Cards. It might just be directly from ATI or something.
Did it come with the PC? Look at the card, it should be made by some company, I don't think Gateway makes Video Cards. It might just be directly from ATI or something.
I'll check here in a moment, yes it came with the computer. Is it exactly relevant who manufactured it though? ATI makes the drivers for it and its their card still shouldn't they at least point me in the right direction?
Is there anyway I could check for hardware failure? The fan is spinning and the standard VGA display adapter seems to install fine. The catalyst install program detects the card as a 5770 too so would that rule out the possibility of hardware failure?
You bloody idiot, AMD designed the thing, a second party manufactured them and thus are responsible for customer level support.
AKA the people you want are Asus/gigabyte/sapphire/XFX/whatever company manufactured your card.

Calm down bud, doesn't change the fact that they carelessly deleted my thread. By the way, its ATI's drivers not the manufactures.
How do I find the manufacture? I took out my card, found no info. The net says it could be XFX or Sapphire.

So you bought it and don't know what it is?
Odellus II?
1. Was this a replacement for a previously installed GPU? If so, what was it and did you completely remove the drivers for it?
2. How do you not know what brand your graphics card is? It should have a big logo on it with the brand name.
Check with the Hardware Manager if the drivers are installed correctly if not search for drivers using devices ID
Stop being assholes to this guy, its not that easy when you don't know much about computers
Just to quote what he has already done
Here's what I've tried to fix the problem:
-Went to installed programs and uninstalled the catalyst components then went to driver manager and removed the driver with "delete driver software" checked. Rebooted and reinstalled
-The above with different driver versions including 10.7 (first driver I ever installed), 10.8, 10.10, and 10.12 all 64x
-Uninstalling everything as before, rebooting, but installing the drivers manually by going to device manager, clicking update, and searching for the file then rebooting.
-I've turned the automatic driver updating off as well although the default "Standard VGA Adapter" driver still installs itself
-I've tried running drivercleaner while uninstalling everything
-And yes I've tried right clicking as administrator when installing
-One guy asked me to update my "mobo" drivers but the intel site says they're up-to-date and that wouldn't explain why they suddenly stopped working

So you bought it and don't know what it is?
All I know is its a radeon HD 5770 by ATI. You can't assume everyone obsesses over hardware like you might, I have a casual knowledge of hardware and don't claim to have anything else. I know as much as I need to know.

No.
2. How do you not know what brand your graphics card is? It should have a big logo on it with the brand name.
Wow. Its a fucking radeon HD 5770 and thats all I know because thats what it said on the fucking box, that's what it says on the fucking card, and thats what it says in fucking dxdaig.
Jesus, please someone else ask me how I could possibly not know the "brand" of my graphics card.
Stop being assholes to this guy, its not that easy when you don't know much about computers
I've written a FUD RAT in ASM jerkwad, what have you done? Oh you know more than me about hardware :bravo:
And yet you can't solve my problem which should be easy for someone of your superior knowledge. Looks like you know jack.
The brand name is printed directly on the card, unless you magically received an unbranded unit only meant for reviewers.

Wow, holy shit man. This is why no one wants to resolve your fucking issues; you're acting like an impatient end user.
1: ATi(AMD) only makes the chipset. THere is OEMs like HIS, Asus, etc. Thats where you get support from. Its not hardware obsession, its common consumer knowledge. Know what you buy, don't know what it may be.
2: Open up the case, look at the cards blower unit. It'll print the name of the company. Powercolor, Asus, XFX, etc. This is important. How? Well, they're the ones who made the card. They're the ones you get support from. Unless this is a factory built PC like a Dell or HP. Then go to Dell or HP's website.
3: You're acting all high and mighty. I hope your problem doesn't get resolved. You're a jackass.

I took it out and looked at it and there was nothing on it. Just a black box with the card name on the fan.
It looks the closest to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103086&cm_re=radeon_5770-_-14-103-086-_-Product but it doesn't have any of the graphic details on it nor does it have "diamond" written.
The sticker that has the spec details on it doesn't list the brand name either. Could ATI have manufactured it?

Its comments like these that make me act "impatient". Now kindly fuck off like the useless nerds you are. You come into this thread with no intent to help, you just come in to say fuck you because you're an angry little prick. I don't give a fuck if I make you angry, cry about it in private don't post in my thread.

This makes you look like a jackass. When someone was trying to stand up for you, you turned them around and tried to make yourself look like the god of computer sciences.
And call me a useless nerd as much as you want. That just shows you're being irrational with the problem. You're getting all aggravated because AMD deleted your posts for downplaying their company. For all their knowledge, you're not a valued customer. Go to nvidia, go get a mac. Because you are an end user, you don't know a damn thing on what you're talking about.
Enjoy being god of computer sciences, and enjoy that mac.
Yes. Exactly.
I'm pretty sure that's a card manufactured by ATI, what in the hell?
I'm not exactly sure about this, but I thought only reviewers were sent these cards.

Insulting all of us is not the best way to get help. I'm not even sure why I'm wasting my time helping you.

Um no, he was insulting me saying I don't know much about computers which is a ridiculous assertion to make based off of this and you're a nerd for not reading his post correctly.
I didn't downplay their company, you should have seen the post. And afterwards I completely rewrote my post with nothing that anyone could find offensive on any part of the planet and they took it down still.

I believe ATi manufactured cards do come with factory built PCs. but this guy made a FAT RUD in ASPIENET for his sexual desires. So he should know how to build a PC and not to buy one. But I could be wrong, I am a worthless engineer, oops I mean nerd.

How about shut the fuck up and get the problem resolved by acting civilized you strange prick.
Hahaha, calling people nerds because they have managed to pass reading comprehension in the third grade and can quite easily find out who made a GPU by looking on the fucking cover? Well done, you are making it impossible for anyone to want to help you. We don't care how impatient you are, you are asking for help, you need to be reasonable.

You're an idiot, read the post above you. You'll notice my card has no labeling on it. I also like how you're piggy banking off of Tobba's post where he said I was "impatient" how about you come up with your own insults. And irony because, you were so impatient in posting you forgot to read the post at the bottom of the page, good work.

Um, how should I phrase this... You mad bro?
You could try talking to Gateway support.
