Ok, basically i'm trying to figure out a way to setup my Antec lansing 2.1 system and have audio travel over my hdmi cable to my main monitor at the same time. I have a 2 pin cable that goes to my spdif out from my mother board to the graphics card and then just the standard line out green jack plugged in for the 2.1 system, i just want to have it so i can have both speaker sets running at the same time. Using analog devices soundmax hd 7.1 integrated audio (windows 7) i mainly set it up so that i can switch from my 2.1 system to the monitor speakers at night so i don't wake my room mates up with the sub when i watch movies in bed, i would just like to get this setup if i can but i'm not really seeing any options to do this... (basically if i could find a way to set both as default devices that would be optimal... audio will travel each but only one at a time, i want to get both going at the same time.)
You can have two audio output devices but they cannot output sound simultaneously if that is what you're trying to accomplish. However if you just want to be able to switch between two audio output devices, in this case your TV over HDMI and speakers connected via 7.1 integrated audio, all you need to do is go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound, then Sound. In the Sound panel you can change the default device from your 7.1 audio to the SPDIF and vice versa.

(I'm pretty sure you could do this in xp and i know they took it out in vista but i was curious if they added support for it again in win7.) Thanks for your reply though.
