The patient, identified only as Rafael, spoke in a labored voice Tuesday at a news conference at the Seville hospital where he underwent surgery. The patient's age was not given. Doctors replaced the bottom two-thirds of his face because of a congenital disease that left it deformed with benign tumors. Last month a hospital in Barcelona carried out the world's first full-face transplant. It was the 11th known face transplant worldwide. The Seville case was the second partial face transplant performed in Spain. Wait that's him after the transplant?
Wait that's him after the transplant?
It appears so... :/
It's alive! IT'S ALIIIIVEEEEE!!!
Well...at least he has a face now...:unsmith:
Wait that's him after the transplant?
Yeah. They replaced the bottom half of his face. Should do the rest, then it'll match.
:ohdear:
I think having half of a corpse's face would be pretty fucking creepy. I wonder if his wife still kisses him... er, yeah him.

Looking just at the bottom part, he could pass for a fat guy once they do the other half aswell.
The bottom half that got replaced looks very good. I guess once the top is done he should look a lot better. Nice to see someone being able to get a new face so they can go on without being well, a monster.
The part that they did transplant doesn't look that bad really.
Atleast it looks good (bottom half was replaced) It's an improvement.
Aw. Hope he recovers.
Well it's better than not having a face at least, actually doesn't look too bad.
Well it's better than not having a face at least, actually doesn't look too bad.
He looks a little like your avatar.
Looks good, should do the other part too though.
Doing the eye sockets was probably the most challenging part... too bad they just don't look right :S
Doing the eye sockets was probably the most challenging part... too bad they just don't look right :S
They didn't do the eye sockets. [editline]01:31PM[/editline] They did the lower half.
He's fucking gorgeous
this reminds me of that movie with john travolta
They didn't do the eye sockets. [editline]01:31PM[/editline] They did the lower half.
Well they should :/
They should also fix the :pwn:
What I said before
They should also fix the :pwn:
Eeeww.
That looks surprisingly good for a first attempt. And probably much better than how he looked before.
Looks better than I expected. I mean they did the lower half, that looks pretty good. I'm sorry for him having that disease in the first place, and then having to get surgeries to lessen it.
Poor guy. Also: Lucky guy.
They should show how he looked before, I'm interested in seeing how it was before the operation.
I wonder how functional this is. Can he freely speak, chew, kiss, does he have problems with mouth breathing or licking stuff? If he could do all of these things, it'd be inifinitely great.
I thought Vincent Schiavelli had it bad
