• Need advice on this cabling idea for simultaneous 4K and PSVR on a PS4 Pro

Hello. I'm contemplating replacing my PS4 with a PS4 Pro, so I can enjoy PS4 games in 4K on my 4K TV, and enjoy PSVR games with higher fidelity. However, my PSVR unit is one with the older processor unit, so I can't enjoy both of the above simultaneously; output to the TV has to pass through the processor unit, and the older processor unit does not let 4K or HDR pass through. So I started thinking.. My idea is to have this HDMI splitter https://www.jaycar.com.au/2-way-hdmi-2-0-uhd-splitter/p/AC1766 immediately after the HDMI port on the PS4, with two outputs. One output, intended for 4K gaming on the TV, goes straight to a HDMI port on the TV. The second output (for VR) goes to the processor unit, where the processor unit's 'pass-through' output then goes to a second HDMI port on the TV. The idea is that, with this set up, not only will I be able to simultaneously enjoy both 4K PS4 games and games that don't look like crap in VR, but changing from one to another will be literally as easy as using my TV remote to change the HDMI input on the TV. But will this idea actually work? And would the presence of a HDMI splitter cause any noticeable lag? Thanks in advance boys and girls
That'll work. As for any lag, probably not, but hard to say without knowing what's inside the specific splitter you linked. I doubt it.

I just thought of another potential problem though; how will the PS4 choose between which output to be the default? Or will it even matter? Because it's a HDMI splitter (as opposed to switcher), there will be two simultaneous outputs, but neither are the same by the time they reach the TV. The output that goes straight to the TV will be 4K+HDR, while the output that goes through the PSVR will also have 4K+HDR, but the processor unit will block the HDR component before forwarding the signal to the other HDMI port on the TV. I imagine it won't be a problem on say the home screen, but say I went to play a 4K+HDR game. Will the PS4 see that the processor unit is connected to HDMI port #2 (even if I have my TV currently set to display HDMI port #1) and therefore refuse to utilise HDR?
