Look at disney, and Nickelodeon. They used to have some good cartoons, but died somewhere around 2005 or 2006 or 2007. Or earlier. Now, its just reruns of unfunny shit, like Icarly, Drake and Josh, Suite Life, Cody in the WHITE HOUSE(Sounds ironic isn't it? Black kid in a white house as a chef.DISNEY IS RACISTTTT) HANNAH MONTANNA and other crap I don't feel like naming. They often have very unfunny jokes, and untalented actors/actresses. The jokes are often filled with very cold sitcom laughter. SITCOM LAUGHTER IS THIS: I want my old good cartoons back!!!!! This, is cartoon. No, this is just nostalgia on your part. Of course what you grew up with will be "better" for you than the dribble they have now.
Well you know a different trend for a different generation I mean cmon Minstrels died and were replaced, its bound to happen eventually
Childrens cartoons and childrens entertainment in general have been on the decline since the late 80's and late 90's even more so. It's just random shit nowadays, no wonder kids are getting fucked up, where are all the good ones like D&D and Pirates of Darkwater.
Watch British saturday morning tv. Cartoons are already dead on there.
Must we go over this every five minutes? Cartoons are not dying, the kids are changing and now have different tastes than what you had when you were their age. And I bet that our cartoons were just as stupid as the ones nowadays, we just have been drinking the nostalgia juice this whole time.
Most of them these days are absolute shit. I remember the ones i watched when i was a kid, they where good. But i'd watch anything when i was a kid, and not understand it.

I think that the problem is mainly that as the quality of animation/time it takes to animate an episode the quality goes down, look at The Simpsons in their hayday, some of the best fucking tv ever and now? I squirm every time Homer gets a new crazy job and Milhouse is on screen doing some stupid gay thing. I also think we're missing the sort of visceral moments we used to have, a perfect example being the scene in Ren and Stimpy when Ren rips his teeth and nerves out. Although we do see some good things like the early and occaisional new Spongebob Squarepants episode, the creepy, seemingly hand painted close-ups are fucking amazing.
I remember Pokemon - the show that is, that was incredibly cliche and quite shit looking at it now. But man was it good as a kid. When I was playing Blue on the Gameboy, I'd imagine I was Ash and the show helped me imagine it. Good times. Standards might have fallen, but if the kids seem to like it then they'll keep making it.
No, the brains of today's youth are dying. The media and popular cartoon channels obviously need to make shit television to please their audience. I would agree though, I can't stand all this fucking teenage love/high school drama shit they put on now.
They're not getting more stupid, you're just growing up.
Cartoons are already dead.
Spongebob is still good.
Whatever happened to crude jokes like poop and boobs? There were some cartoons that included these kind of stuff, but nowadays, we see cartoons with stereotypical teenagers in a rich setting.
To be honest a lot of shows that I used to watch were shit (Ed Edd and Eddy, I never really liked Johnny Bravo,) however there were good ones like Courage the Cowardly Dog.
No, they're not dying: they're DEAD. Cartoons have been going to the shitter for for a good decade now. I miss Tom and Jerry :'(
I blame Anime/Manga.
That's called "the lowest common denominator".
No, Cartoons are dead, they have been for 4 years.
Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed Edd, and Eddy, and Dexter's Laboratory were the best. Along with Tom and Jerry of course [editline]06:12AM[/editline]
To be honest a lot of shows that I used to watch were shit (Ed Edd and Eddy, I never really liked Johnny Bravo,) however there were good ones like Courage the Cowardly Dog.
I didn't even see your post before I posted mine. Courage was awesome. Creepy sometimes but aww-sum

basically you've grown out of the 'Kids' channel and therefore whatever is new to you is absolutely stupid because you're not their target audience
ITT: Cartoons are drawn. People are not.
