Well crap, and it sounded like it could have been interesting too. Oh well, at least the effort's being put towards the other projects now, though hopefully they'll be able to make use of the idea and whatever assets they made as part of one of the other games. I mean, having a 5th player in the Dragon Age multiplayer, acting as the DM/"Shadowlord" of the session, would help freshen up that portion of the game.
Wow, so EA doesn't trust BioWare to do anything that isn't Mass Effect and Dragon Age? Not really surprised here.
Goodbye Interesting IP.
Sounds to me like either EA or Bioware got ahead of themselves and announced the game far too early in development.
It's pretty frequent for games to be shelved or abandoned early in development, there's a reason why most publishers tend to wait for at least a beta build before announcing anything publicly.

They're working on another IP, and Bioware austin is pretty much formed by the former Mythic Entertainment team, just under the Bioware name
Honestly, it didn't seem like the game had much going for it. The teasers were super cool, but the gameplay and the entire premise behind it seemed kinda meh. The 4v1 multiplayer gimmick just doesn't mix with a Bioware narrative in my opinion.

Cyberpunk 2077 was being worked on up until they needed the extra staff for Witcher 3. That's been announced for years.
I had never heard of this, but it looks really cool. A shame.
I'm acquainted with one of the people who pushed for this game to be made. It was the baby of several people in the studio and I'm quite disappointed to see it go.
No surprise. No one wants to do anything new anymore except for Indies. How many games last year were original IP's vs a sequel. Our last game sold kind of well, so if we do a sequel it's a sure thing, forget the unknown

That's when you know big studios are getting fucked left right and center. If it was a passion project it would surely have at the very least got a cult following.
