But yea, either download speccy and post a screenshot, or press ctrl+r and type in dxdiag
download a new gpu
I'm pretty sure MW1 works under win7 because i have it installed myself. He's doing something wrong.

A quick way is to type dxdiag in your windows run box or in the windows 7 start menu search bar.
The first tab will give you a bunch of information. Tell us all the information under Processor: and Memory:
Then click the display tab and tell us the name of the graphics processor.
After that we should be able to help you.
Processor: Inter(R) core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz (8CPUs,) ~3.1GHz
Memory: 12288MB RAM
I clicked the Display tab and i couldn't find the Graphics Processor name :'(
You dont have a graphics card!!1 :techno::techno::flame::supaburn::rimshot::fappery::jihad::confused::monocle::confused::pervert:
Imagine a 50$ GPU going with those specs :v:

It should be next to the Name under Display.

Nope. I don't believe someone with those specs doesn't know their GPU.
Name: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250

Since I can run MW1 on a Win7 laptop with a woefully inadequate integrated Intel HD graphics card, you are more than capable of running that game.
I am thinking your issue might be a little more than hardware related. Not 100% sure though. Could be a driver issue, but would be hard to tell. Sounds more like a corruption issue maybe, or some sort of issue with a previously installed driver.
Modern warfare 1 works perfectly fine on win 7, though it does disable aero on my computer while it's running, otherwise no problems, though my fps does get slowed down to a crawl whenever I get a popup from an IM program (msn/skype).
I know it sounds insane but have you tried just sticking a 3.5mm jack into your headphone port? Cod4 has issues with the microphone implementation in windows 7.

Pre-builts in a nutshell.
Anyway, after you get this wrking, you should get a new GPU if you play newer games, your CPU is pretty bottlenecked.

You got a pretty high end CPU, and a cheap GPU. Your performance would be way better with a new GPU

Yeah i'm not sure i can afford one just yet....especially since my dad spent over £150 on new stuff for the PC a few months ago
He didn't say he couldn't run it, just to be clear, you couldn't install it in the first place right?
"lags out" isn't descriptive at all.
I'd say he CTD's for some reason. When i had my copy of MW1 on my laptop, the cod4 console showed some errors, not a CTD.

Ok well i put the disk in then it asks me if i want to run the game and when i click 'Install' and my PC freezes and i have to restart it. Thats all that happens

Possibly open the disc in My Computer (right-click CD Drive and click Open, don't double-click it), and copy the contents of the disc into a folder on your desktop, and run the setup.exe there?
Oh god. 12gb RAM and an i7 950 paired with a GTS 250. I think I'm gonna hurl.
