• PlayStation Vita update locks memory cards to PSN accounts
There's a bonus feature for PlayStation Vita owners who have updated to the system's new firmware: Sony has locked memory cards to specific PlayStation Network accounts. Gamers were previously able to switch PSN accounts via the slightly cumbersome process of "restoring" the system. Now, those with content from multiple accounts or multiple regions will have to buy another memory card or lose their data. One way to separate your content onto several memory cards is to copy it back to a PlayStation 3, NeoGAF users reported. But those with only one Vita memory card handy will need to go shopping first. It's a problem that will hit users who have accounts on multiple PlayStation Stores - useful as not all content is released in all regions. The move comes at an especially bad time - Sony has just enabled PSone game support for the Vita. Those who bought titles using a different PSN account to their handheld's will also need to juggle memory cards.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-29-playstation-vita-update-locks-memory-cards Sony working hard to kill off an already slow selling, said to be dead on arrival game system, nice. Do they get their advice from EA or something?
no one is allowed the share anything anymore in any way. welcome to the downside of the digital era
Maybe if the memory cards weren't so expensive I might care less.
Maybe if the memory cards weren't so expensive I might care less.
The Ritz Camera near me sells Vita memory cards for about $20. I can deal with this.
Welp... Ok, new firmware does this bullshit...
Well the system itself is already locked to a PSN account so this really changes nothing for most people.
Was thinking about getting a handheld, PSP Vita has the power while the 3DS has the games. Don't know but since i started to consider what to buy i started to hear more good news on the 3DS side and more shittier news on the Vita side
Fuck you too sony.
If console companies didn't do all this complete bullshit, maybe I'd consider buying one. I don't trust Microsoft and Sony enough to spend hundreds on consoles, only to get ripped off at a later date.
Unfortunately, the only solution is to not update.
I need to get a new memory card for my psp, then homebrew the shit out it.
so uh who has multiple accounts on the same ps vita?
so uh who has multiple accounts on the same ps vita?
I would consider getting one, there are a huge amount of games in the Japanese and European PSN networks. Anyway, I don't see their reason for doing this, especially if the amount of downloads are restricted to a certain amount of devices. If I remember correctly, it was 4 devices for PSP, 2 devices for PSV.
I thought sony actually wanted to sell their vitas?
This is like repairing a hole in the sink by filling your kitchen with concrete
They do something similar with PS3 HDDs, you can't move a drive between consoles, they are coded to the PS3 that formats them, and require a format in any later consoles. It's a fucking nightmare if your PS3 dies, but at least you can still transfer these memory cards if your Vita dies or something.
so uh who has multiple accounts on the same ps vita?
I do, or rather did I guess. There are a few demos and other things you can't get on SCEA's PSN. Also buying games that are japan only from there can be much easier than importing (if you can find a good way to get PSN cards).
Well, this is one of Sony's worst ideas yet, Apart from maybe bringing the PSN down for 2 months.
Well I could get why they had Memcards for the PSP 1 (but they should have came with the system in the first place). But doing it with the Vita when all other handhelds don't need one and then they want like $20 more a crad plus $250 for a system and like $40 per game there not making it easy for people to buy there stuff. Now they go and do this ......... they did not learn from why PSP(1) had a shity start [editline]29th August 2012[/editline]
Was thinking about getting a handheld, PSP Vita has the power while the 3DS has the games.
Yeah i'm almost certain that i will get the 3DS, got about 18 games i want to play and i just need some more games so i am sure it will be worth the money
if you can try and get is used for much cheaper and the games
Officially better than Vita memory cards.
Vita is the most awesome handheld gaming system the world has ever seen, and it keeps getting fucked over by Sony. I can't for the life of me see what they think they're accomplishing with this constant stream of restrictions. Not really gonna affect me personally, but I can imagine somebody in North America wanting access to all the PS1 classics would get mighty upset with this.
Glad I didn't buy one.
if you can try and get is used for much cheaper and the games
Oh wait that reminded me 3DS can also play DS games (And SNES/N64 games when done right) while the Vita cant even play my original PSP games
Oh wait that reminded me 3DS can also play DS games (And SNES/N64 games when done right) while the Vita cant even play my original PSP games
And the eShop has a handful of great games.
Oh wait that reminded me 3DS can also play DS games (And SNES/N64 games when done right) while the Vita cant even play my original PSP games
Technically it can since the backwards compatibility is there, but Sony hasn't arranged for it very well. Those with a Ps3 can transfer PSP games like this.
Oh wait that reminded me 3DS can also play DS games (And SNES/N64 games when done right) while the Vita cant even play my original PSP games
I think you can but the PSP games got to be from PSN which is still bull. I so far see no reason to buy the Vita maybe sometime from now the when the thing is cheaper and being sold with Memcard and game with it
It's a good handheld but they have no idea what to do with it.
Oh wait that reminded me 3DS can also play DS games (And SNES/N64 games when done right) while the Vita cant even play my original PSP games
I am pretty sure you can play PSP games bought on the playstation store on the vita.
