I scanned my hard drive with windirstat and everything doesn't add up
i have a 75 gigabyte hard drive but windirstat says it's a 65 gigabyte hard drive (it includes the WINDOWS folder and virtual memory as well).
what's up with my hard drive? how do i free up that ~10 gigs of space?
I'm pretty sure that would be a system factory image. I don't recommend messing with that if you want to be able restoring your computer to factory condition.
it's not, i remember a while ago when i scanned it showed my hard drive as having a 73 gig capacity. i just recently deleted a 5 gig folder but it only seemed to delete 3 gigs.

just checked, there aren't any partitions or anything like that. i'll run disk cleanup but still if anyone has any other ideas i'd like to hear them.

diskcleanup didn't find shit.
Just bear in mind that manufacturer's call 1000MB a GB, whereas Windows calls 1024MB a GB.
So in my "1TB" HDD I actually have 970GB space

And i'm pretty sure some of the space is used for Reallocating sectors if some sectors go bad due to a HDD failure.
yeah for me that's around 2 gigs. i figured out the problem i think. it was fucking system restore taking up 10 gigs on my HD even though i never use it
