Apparently a very mysterious ARG has surfaced a couple of weeks ago. VERY LITTLE INFO IS KNOWN AT THIS POINT so it can be anything from Half Life 2 Episode 3 to a secret space station. The ARG in a nutshell On May 24, 2011, the web address testsubjectsneeded.com was found hidden in ads for 5 Gum. The website contained a sensory evaluation test asking players to react to various stimuli; once complete, they could create an account on the website. Weeks later, on June 13, hundreds of paper helicopters with blue LED lights were dropped over the Bonnaroo Music Festival, copies of which were later sent to TSN account holders. A QR code on the helicopters led to the discovery of Missionicefly.com, which displayed a countdown ending on June 30. Once the countdown ended, a hunt began in fifteen cities as players attempted to locate iceflies. As each icefly was discovered, parts of a video began appearing on the website, and when all fifteen were found, the video revealed another site: Survivalcode.com. This new website allows TSN account holders to collect constellation and test facility keys by using codes found inside specially marked packs of 5 Gum. A new countdown is set to expire on July 15. When the countdown expires on July 15, the time then clicks through to a new puzzle. Once solved in its entirety, users were led to an audio sensory 'game'. When all levels are solved, 5 new "Facility 1" logs are awarded, as well as the "In the loop" achievement. After July 19, logging in on survivalcode.com brings the player to explore Facility 1 with many sensory puzzles to solve, unlocking new achievements and logs. Some of the puzzles require constellation and facility keys. Beginning with August 1, new packages are mailed out that contain 5 Gum and a personal ID Badge which has a piece of a QR code on the back. The code is put together from the pieces and leads to a puzzle. With a poll on 5 Gum's Facebook page, Miami, Houston and San Diego are chosen for the hunt of three more iceflies on August 11. New logs appear and Facility 2 opens on August 15. Facility 2 opened on August 15 and along with it came new puzzles and log files. New Traelek Institute links were discovered in the new logfiles on August 17th. There is also a video on the website survivalcode.com. http://www.survivalcode.com/thegenesis There is a wiki on everything that is known about the ARG. http://icefly.wikibruce.com/Home I don't know what to think of this, the video at survivalcode.com is VERY well made so I don't think it is a game. And the fact that they airdropped thousands of QR codes on a music festival makes me think that this is a very well marketed product aimed at young people. I encourage people to participate in this, it might turn out very interesting. Look on YouTube for tons of videos on this. This is freaky. I bet it all leads back to Episode Three.
Why is it that, whenever the word 'ARG' comes up, the phrase 'Half-Life 2: Episode 3' comes up as well
oh hey it's John Locke
We have to go back.
Y'know, the whole "sense" thing might all loop back towards it being a promotion of 5 Gum. Either that or it's something related to a sci-fi movie or video game.
] 5 Gum has always been about the senses. 90% of my thinking is exactly that, a 5 Gum commercial.
But they are putting so much money onto this, I don't know.
/wishes for EP3 knows otherwise :saddowns: [editline]1st September 2011[/editline] where the fuck is saddowns
Terry O'Quinn has always been one of my favorite actors from LOST. He plays a good mysterious business man. [editline]1st September 2011[/editline] the fact that it's about gum makes me lose interest.
what the hell are you supposed to do for the numbers thing [editline]1st September 2011[/editline] oh dammit I need a log
This is so obviously not Episode 3
Cool and all, but... It's just about gum...
So it's a giant publicity stunt for that shitty 5-gum? Lame.
I thought it seemed pretty cool until I heard gum was involved.
I signed up to this months ago, when it surfaced. It is simply I promotion for 5 gum's new flavour. I received my latest package from them today; a name badge and a free 15-pack of 5gum's Tropical flavour.
I got into it thinking it was for a game or something, then found out it was for gum when a package came with the badge and gum in it. Hey, free gum is free gum so I'm not complaining, I wont finish the rest of the ARG though.
