The "Long Count" Myan calender suggests an event at the date of the 21st of December ,2012. now whether this is a good event like a religious event, or the more talked about end of the world. there is loads of possibilities that surround the "End or the World" theory like... 1. Meteor strike (Planet X) 2. Polar (Magnetic) Shift 3. Planetary alingment (supposedly opening a black hole at the centre of our galixy) 4. HUGE Solar flares and probably a ton more options but i think theyre might be more specific and acufate reasons behind the "End"? EDIT: yes this is bullshit
There isn't
Uh, none of those are actually going to happen.
No, sorry. We only know ONE thing that CAN destroy our home. That is the sun.... [sp]But it will first happen in like 4 billion years, the sun will become a supernova. :buddy:[/sp]

I'm pretty sure that happens occasionally. 3. There is a black hole at the center of our galaxy. 4. Ask a scientist and they will tell you that this wont hurt much.
2012, The year of the fail.
Kirstie Alley will engulf the planet
I only see four questions there not 2012
Why would the Mayan calender predict the end of the world? I'm sure even the most hard-headed Mayan astrologist got bored at some point and said "Ah fuck it, let the astrologists in 500 years figure out the rest."
4. Ask a scientist and they will tell you that this wont hurt much.
We've already been hit by the worst type of solar flare possible several times.
Why should we even trust the Mayans? They can't be that clever, since they're not around anymore. :downs:
And besides...
1. Meteor strike (Planet X) 2. Polar (Magnetic) Shift 3. Planetary alingment (supposedly opening a black hole at the centre of our galixy) 4. HUGE Solar flares
1) What the fuck is planet X? 2) and 3) Makes as much sense as saying that driving when the sun rises is dangerous because you might crash into it. 4) Those already happened and never do any damage. [editline]09:33PM[/editline]
Why should we even trust the Mayans? They can't be that clever, since they're not around anymore. :downs:
Exactly. They predict the end of the world but not the end of their own civilisation? Hah. Lotsa friggin' good that did.
I was discussing this with my girlfriend the other day & 2012 is not gonna happen. There is no proof, first of all. Secondly, 12/21/2012 is the end of an ERA. Ending the Old Era and beginning the new. The world will not end, it's a prediction. Weathermen predict weather every day, it's either wrong or right. No world ending for you fanatics out there, and we'll be talking about 2012 in 2013 anyways. :fuckyou: All based on a quick Google search.
the point of huge solar flares is they affect our weather patterns
the point of huge solar flares is they affect our weather patterns
Thanks for the input, credible expert.
I was discussing this with my girlfriend the other day & 2012 is not gonna happen.
*snicker* Just kidding. Besides, if anything, the Mayans said it would be the end of the world as we know it. Alien contact? Prostitution is legalized? Who knows.
1. Planet X does not exist. 2. I'm pretty sure that happens occasionally. 3. There is a black hole at the center of our galaxy. 4. Ask a scientist and they will tell you that this wont hurt much.
1. We do have smaller "planets" far away from Pluto, but they doesn't count as planets. 2. Then explain to me why a compass always points the same direction when it's pointing to north? 3. Truth, and it's massive. 4. Actually depends on how severe they are. Because a large one could contain enough EMP and if it hits the right spot it could black out the power for a whole country or something like that. Which can be pretty bad. But other then that, I doubt they hurt.
We've already been hit by the worst type of solar flare possible several times.
You mean we as in us people posting here now, or we as in earth, or we as in humans over the course of history?
probably alien contact
2012 is teh end!11!dakd
Mayans never even said that 2012 is end of the world. Our world will end just like it did in 2000, and other years. Like my teacher said, people live to see the end
4. Actually depends on how severe they are.
You mean we as in us people posting here now, or we as in earth, or we as in humans over the course of history?
Us as in people who have been alive in the last several decades.
The only thing that actually could realisticly happen is to get hit by a meteor which was hiding in the shadow of some planet and we can't see it, untill it hits us. Bu that's not very likely.
The only thing that actually could realisticly happen is to get hit by a meteor which was hiding in the shadow of some planet and we can't see it, untill it hits us. Bu that's not very likely.
Shh, ninja meteor is watching us
Mayans didn't know fucking jackshit about what is going to happen in 2012, they couldn't even predict the London Olympics.
I don't accept apocalypse theories from people who couldn't predict The Spanish. The reason their calender ends is because they fucking died. Also 2 and 4 at the same time would be a problem; I heard that scientists are unsure about how long magnetic shift would take, and if it fucked up the magnetic field and there was a solar flare, we'd be screwed (magnetic field protects us from solar flares). There's no reason why it should be at 2012, and please don't quote me as a legitimate source I don't know shit.
