RIP Half-Life
How do we know that's even his email account? I smell a rat.
Perhaps he indeed didnt know about the new game they were about to announce via ARG, and when he found out that there is a new game indeed, he got pissed and left? who am i kidding now, this is actually quite bad for hl3 development.

goodbye valve videogames
someone else emailed him in the thread and he responded confirming it.
That Spookens guy was caught bullshitting the other day according to comments http://web.archive.org/web/20160106071839/https://www.reddit.com/r/steamsaledetectives/comments/3znp9l/emailed_gabe_about_the_arg_not_good_news_guys/cynl3wi
Half-life 3 unconfirmed. God damn, the series ended at a cliffhanger.

his gmail email is the same one shown by a reddit poster in april 5th 2015. https://www.reddit.com/r/HalfLife/comments/31ph1c/marc_laidlaw_answered_my_email/ it's also the one thats part of this thread here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2503050
Welp looks like a lot of people are going to get perma banned
Wouldn't be surprised if he left just because he wants to work for a company that actually makes videogames
"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why [they did]," "But you know if you want to do another Half-Life game and you want to ignore everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice. So we'll keep moving forward. But that doesn't necessarily always mean what people are worried that it might mean."
- gaben, 2015 There's not gonna be a HL3 in the foreseeable future, or it's gonna be complete shit.

I was just searching for a twitter of his, and it seems he had his taken shortly after closing it some time back. I will only believe a fraction of an inch of this when there is a public press release from himself or Valve.

It seems that we will never get a deserving finale for the series.
To be fair, he could have left because he just finished writing the game and now he wants to move on? :xfiles:
If it's true I hope he does an expose on Valve, there's been disgruntled ex-staff before that got dismissed as just being bitter from leaving but it'd be a bit stupid to dismiss someone as high up as this.
It's not like it's impossible to get his assistance on writing projects in the future anyway.
Dude's 56, at that point I'd also consider getting a more lively job.
Someone who got the forwarded email posted the entire header information, don't know how easy/hard that is to fake. http://pastebin.com/4HNGTaEj There's also a small chain of people asking for forwards. I don't think that many people would be "in on it" but maybe.
what he means by "everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side" is that people weren't buying the cosmetic microtransactions for the co-op mode so they're not going to make a singleplayer (or any) game again unless they know they can make bank off of micros
Yep, that's why I'm worried about how the game would look and play if they made it now, with that mentality we might be better off not getting a HL3 at all

We're not gonna do something that is strictly singleplayer without an incredibly good reason that is has to be done that way." [editline]8th January 2016[/editline] Maybe all the dipshits emailing him over the ARG made him realize he hates them all and wants to go somewhere else so they'll hopefully leave him alone.
Maybe all the dipshits emailing him over the ARG made him realize he hates them all and wants to go somewhere else so they'll hopefully leave him alone.
honestly i wouldn't be surprised if that was the breaking point i sent him a email just a few min ago, if he responds then ill let you guys know.
RIP Fuckn haf life
But VR was just around the corner...
holy shit time to just give up. There's no reason to live anymore.
no fucking waay
i remember when a guy in the old valve games forum we had on here like 5 years ago I think said "episode 3 is never happening, they have no interest and no reason to do it anymore compared to their current projects" and I was aghast, I was just like Valve isn't like that, they're always so passionate about their projects they wouldn't leave people hanging etc etc but i guess shipping a quality game is a lot less profitable than pushing cosmetics on whales and passive idiots who will never stop buying or consider the effect of their purchases on the overall market for a single second
To be fair, he could have left because he just finished writing the game and now he wants to move on? :xfiles:
This is Valve we're talking about. The final plot for the game will be made like 3 months before release
We did it boyos, we made Marc leave with our ARG

It wouldn't take much before the whole project would be considered a huge failure.
