Hey all, building a rig for my first time and I kind of want to be set with around a $450 to $600(Price is unknown so far)budget. Here's the parts I have set for now, if you can find something as good as the part but cheaper then that'd be great! base components, buy a videocard based on the rest of the budget (and possibly increase the PSU to the CX600 depending on what card you're getting) This is 319 shipped. PSU / CPU combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.729966 Motherboard / RAM combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.725271 (I used your Case and HDD because they were good choices) (If you need more wattage for a 560 + get http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.729968 instead) Awesome deal on an open box GTX 460: for $80! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133394R $150 open box GTX 560 TI (get the 600w PSU with this one) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121425R
well those gpu bundles are out of stuck, but thanks mate! I will probably stick to the 550 for now because I've been wanting this card a lot lately, don't know why. But seriously, holy shit thank you so much. Considering I'm a newbie, if I consider changing some parts soon which should I change and would they be compatible with other parts. Thanks again though, you're a life saver!
the 550 is horrible, try to get a better card, maybe a 6850/6870 seeing as they are close to the $150 mark.
Welp, modified what you gave me and came up with this: http://screencast.com/t/CgLD5itcju [editline]15th September 2011[/editline]
the 550 is horrible, try to get a better card, maybe a 6850/6870 seeing as they are close to the $150 mark.
Is it really that bad? tbh, I'm not a fanboy but I really just do not like ATI because they seem to be left in the dark for some cool features nvidia has and even some dev's screw ATI users over too :/
A 460 is better, get one if you can. A 6850 is a good choice too. A 550 is okay, I suppose, but it's worse than a 460 (although it does draw a bit less power I think). The build you linked is worse, HDD is bad, PSU is pretty bad, and there's no CPU! If you want to save as much money as possible, there's some stuff I can change, like a worse motherboard and case and stuff, for little to no performance drop, just lesser features (such as 1 PCI-E x16, stuff like that). [editline]14th September 2011[/editline] Those GPU went out of stock really fast :v: [editline]14th September 2011[/editline] Oh and about the HDD, I feel like you're picking the seagate because it says 6 GB/s, that is just the bandwidth of SATA III. It doesn't actually get anywhere near that, nor anywhere near 3 GB/s (the bandwidth of SATA II, which the Spinpoint F3 uses). The Spinpoint F3 performs far better, despite being only SATA II, which honestly doesn't matter since the bandwidth is never ever even neared maxing out.
Ah crap, thanks for pointing the CPU out. There goes my hopes and dreams. ;-; I probably have a lower chance of getting the computer now that I have to add another 100$ :< [editline]15th September 2011[/editline] Well here: http://screencast.com/t/UE8Os6QiW85 I'm probably screwed though, I hit 500$ ;-; Is there anyway you can go lower but make it so it's still upgradeable?

Is there a limit you have? $400 seems like what you're aiming for. It's totally possible, maybe with a bit worse videocard like a 6770, but that really isn't that bad and you'll be maxing all source games with it, and will be able to play everything else fine on moderate settings. I'll see what I can do.
Would this Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138290 Work well with this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147112 And is the motherboard good? I'm getting the 6770 for sure.
Yep, it's a nice case. I have the same one with a different front panel. Also sorry about totally forgetting about this, but do you know when you'll be able to order?
Next week on friday
well things are going to change a lot until then most likely, so I'm not going really work on anything till then.
I set a rig up for 480$, my family seems happy about this. I hope the price decreases if anything :v:
