A teaching assistant was sent away from her first day of her new job at a Catholic school because her arms and neck are covered in tattoos. -nvm- as long as she covers up and keeps the piercings off her face still you shouldn't go into a field with known dress codes and wonder why you can't get a job because of your lack of conforming to the dress code
She broke the school code of conduct, don't see why this is news worthy.
ya thats an inappropriate amount of piercings and tattoos for teaching, especially in catholic schools
I don't see the connection between a person's ability to teach, and the person's ability to not make slightly stupid choices that aren't life-threatening.
She broke the school code of conduct, don't see why this is news worthy.
If it were an issue I don't get why they hired her in the first place.
How didn't they see those tattoos in the first place?
I don't see the connection between a person's ability to teach, and the person's ability to not make slightly stupid choices that aren't life-threatening.
Piercings and tattoos are stupid choices?
Kind of a stupid thing to be fire-worthy to begin with, but knowing the rules and actively breaking them on your first day isn't a good idea in any field, regardless of how dumb tattoo taboo is.
Did they not even do a fucking face to face interview? Right, fair enough she might have broke school conduct, but really that shouldn't have been possible in the first place if they took issue with her appearance, which would have been pretty easy to determine if they actually had a proper interview.
How didn't they see those tattoos in the first place?
Might have got an outside agency for recruiting to do the interview or something.
Piercings and tattoos are stupid choices?
Yes
Oh, it's a Catholic school. I thought this was just a general public school at first. Still dumb
Might have got an outside agency for recruiting to do the interview or something.
True! I just thought it was standard that teachers couldn't show tattoos. All of mine that did had to wear long sleeves all the time to cover them. So whoever may have done the hiring did a terrible job, especially since this is a catholic school. :v:
Yes
Care to elaborate on your opinion. Or just gonna stay silent like a self concieted asshat?
Care to elaborate on your opinion. Or just gonna stay silent like a self concieted asshat?
He's probably gonna stay silent like a self-conceited asshat.
Yes
Yeah, fucking idiots who want to self express in a way they see fit that harms no one other than my delicate sensibilities
loads of primary school teachers here have tats, even on their hands and stuff. surprising that someone got fired cos of it tbh probably some fancy private school
Yeah, fucking idiots who want to self express in a way they see fit that harms no one other than my delicate sensibilities
Yeah it's pretty much the same as you guys flipping out because someone has a viewpoint that harms no one else, I like tats and pretty much everyone I work with has em, but if you want to be a teacher at a catholic school do you not think that it might be within your best interests to not have them?
Care to elaborate on your opinion.
He's probably gonna stay silent like a self-conceited asshat.
Probably not since I must reply to agree with your statement.
Yes
Mate, what's wrong with that compared to clothes? Same shit, it's just fashion. Why do you care?
Never understood why people have an issue hiring people with tattoos, piercings are different as they could be a health and safety issue in some jobs, but unless you have something like "FUCK COPS" tattooed on your face in place of eyebrows- then it doesn't affect your ability to do your job at all- who gives a shit?. I hear people saying "oh well it might upset certain customers who don't like tattoos"- and again, who gives a shit? im pretty sure there are people knocking about who would be upset if you hired people of different ethnic groups to them, or hired homosexuals or even hired people of different faiths/lack of religion- and we don't hire based on their judgemental views.
Yeah it's pretty much the same as you guys flipping out because someone has a viewpoint that harms no one else, I like tats and pretty much everyone I work with has em, but if you want to be a teacher at a catholic school do you not think that it might be within your best interests to not have them?
That's different. A tattoo doesn't have any offensive intent. Meanwhile, calling them dumb decisions are essentially calling people with tats and piercings dumb.
Probably not since I must reply to agree with your statement.
What is an Agree Stamp?
Yeah it's pretty much the same as you guys flipping out because someone has a viewpoint that harms no one else, I like tats and pretty much everyone I work with has em, but if you want to be a teacher at a catholic school do you not think that it might be within your best interests to not have them? These posts are just embarrassing, thats some tumblr level of aggressiveness for no reason
Just irks me that people believe that low tier self body modification is wrong and don't elaborate upon it as to reasons WHY and instead just give a strong blank YES answer. It just comes across as arrogant and abrasive. No different to my reply I guess, but hey ho.
The keyword here is catholic. I'm surprised they hired her in the first place, if they're so much against them.
Yeah it's pretty much the same as you guys flipping out because someone has a viewpoint that harms no one else,
Isn't this article about someone that lost their job because "tattoos are bad"
Well, if she is wearing a long sleeved shirt, I don't see why she can't just "turn the other cheek" as it were so her tattoo doesn't so on the right side of her face! Just always show her students the left side of her face and everything is a-okay!
I was going to suggest she could wear a full burka, but that would be even worse in a Catholic school
Kinda funny, I actually think women with tasteful tattooes and cute little piercings are attractive.
Piercings and tattoos are stupid choices?
I wouldn't call them stupid choices, but I don't like body modifications and am generally uncomfortable with people with tattoos and piercings.
I was going to suggest she could wear a full burka, but that would be even worse in a Catholic school
We'll she could do that and just say she's a nun, but I guess it would make a bad habit.
